We booked this cruise because we loved the itinerary. This was our second Viking Ocean cruise so we were familiar with the ship & services and know we like cruising with Viking. This trip didn't disappoint. Weather gods were with us in Norway, not always a sunny place to cruise, so that made the trip even better. Rain in Bergen the day we embarked didn't put a damper on the trip as the remainder of the two weeks were sunny & warm, even north of the Arctic Circle. Lectures were varied and speakers were interesting. Port talks were helpful and not the old-fashioned port talks about where to shop. With the cruise director giving overviews and facts about the ports and the shore excursion department providing info about towns, optional & included excursions, area transportation options and more, the talks were well worth attending or viewing on the cabin tv. Scenery was fabulous throughout the trip and ports were interesting. Favorites were Tromsø & the Orkney Islands. We did some included shore excursions and some optional. Included excursions were usually "panoramic" which meant most the time was spent on a bus, driving by sites, with narration & information from local guides and a couple photo/WC breaks. We participated in other tours which were a combination of bus tour and hiking and they were excellent tours. We especially enjoyed the comedian & the cruise director's evening shows. Other entertainment was good but not the best of the singing & dancing shows I've seen on cruises. Viking boats are designed well with plenty of comfortable seating in public areas and quiet places too. Restaurants were good, Manfredi's our favorite onboard. Free wifi was fair, depending on location but we usually had service. Launderette onboard was chaotic & usually busy, not enough machines. We love the fact that Viking cruises are casual with no formal nights & have leisurely dining however we want. We liked the cruise enough to commit to another Viking trip in the future.
