As many have noted although there were 900+ guest it never felt crowed. The common space are abundant, well maintained, elegant. You could always find a quiet spot.
The food was very good with many choices. Dinning options were many. We liked the World Café self serve and Manfredi the Italian resto. The tour were well organized. For St Petersburg I would recommend a private tour with Best Guides. SPB is a zoo and being 2 or 4 make optimizes the tour, cutting the lines and making your way.
Other guests loved the onboard entertainment, we not so much. The lectures were good and informative. Deluxe Veranda impeccable. With access to washing machine you can pack 1/2 of what you would otherwise. A/C worked fine. House wine adequate with multiple refills. You can pick up duty free spirits and bring on board sans problem. Get to embarkation point a few days early if you can. Took us a week to get over 9 hour jet lag.
we stayed at the Rival hotel for three night before embarking. Got a 72 hour transport pass and had a good chance to explore this gorgeous city
we added a boat tour thru the canals since the sun was shinning. nice to have that last minute option.
you can visit the oil museum on your own. We enjoyed it. We booked a three hours cruise to pulpit rock with Rodne online for $59/p. Do it even if it rains, you can see well from inside the boat and there are some protected area on top. Be ready for the feeding of the goats.
expect rain but go to the nature center and see the 30 min 180 degree movie of the various fjord from the vintage of a helicopter
the guide gave us too many facts. Try the fried little fish sold on the waterfront, eat under the tent if you do not want to share your meal with the seagulls
