First time going on a river cruise and the Scenic Jewel Rhine Highlights exceeded our expectations. It was an experience of a lifetime and well worth the price. We selected a balcony room and found it was more than adequate for the time we planned to spend in it.

We were near the back of the ship but not close enough to engine room to affect us. However one couple on the 2nd level asked to be moved because room located over engine area and very loud there. The average age on this specific cruise was 60+...since our first one cannot say if this is normal but likely so. Based on the excursions offered and on ship activities, it definitely is not geared to young families/children. If you have mobility issues this type of cruise could still work for you. Their excursions are rated by mobility and recommend you do additional research if mobility is severe.
