The overall experience was really great. The crew was friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. The ship was brand new and beautiful, with large and very elegant public areas. The public spaces were bright, clean, airy and un-crowded. The rooms were roomy and comfortable, and all were unobstructed balcony rooms with twice a day service. Wine (or beer) was included with lunch and dinner. The specialty restaurants had no surcharge, were intimate, and were really great. All the meals had wonderful choices with lots of very well prepared food that was of a much higher quality than we've experienced on other cruise lines. There was no casino, or photographer to have to contend with! There were very informative talks regularly available (we really enjoyed the astronomer, and then seeing the milky way) and multiple entertainment venues that were all very well done. There were always basic shore excursions, included, and the optional ones were great and were reasonably priced. We had a lot of fun, with great service, and didn't get nickel and dimed with extra charges.
The cabin was quite comfortable, and large enough for the very comfortable king size bed, two night stands, a desk and chair, two comfortable chairs and a cocktail table, as well as ample closet space. The veranda was unobstructed and roomy. The bathroom was tastefully elegant, was large for a cruise ship, and had a glass enclosed shower. Room lighting was good and was well placed.
The smell of the pervasive orange trees was wonderful. This was another absolutely charming city with friendly people and lots of sights.
Hard to rate an excursion here. We were met at the airport by Viking, and the arrangements to get us and our luggage onboard was done very smoothly and (for us) effortlessly. We only had a few hours before departure so we spent them exploring the beautiful ship rather than wandering in San Juan (which we've visited several times).
