My sister and I just returned from a week in the Bahamas. We were unaware that the week was Spring Break for college kids. We were told that the ship usually sails with 4,200-4,300 passengers. Due to Spring Break, an additional 600-700 people were squeezed onto the ship. It was generally a mob in the buffet and public areas. We were very disappointed that the balcony cabin was exceptionally small. It took some time to figure out how to place our belongings due to the cramped space. The closet is along side the bed, which makes it very tight to get one's clothes. There are very few shelves to put clothes. The deck was also very small, barely enough room for two chairs. We have been on over a dozen cruises. Except for a cruise taken approximately 20 years ago, this was the smallest cabin we have ever had. On the plus side, the bathroom was well laid out with adequate room for one's toiletries and good space to move about. There is an oversized sofa which came in handy. The beds are large and comfortable. There are three outlets over the desk, which was definitely appreciated. We didn't have to use our power strip cord. The housekeeping is very good.
The ship, as a whole, is very clean. The specialty restaurants were excellent. The other dining rooms served very good food. All of the staff were polite and helpful. The theater was nice and the shows offered were very good. Disembarkation was anything but good. Disembarking nearly 5,000 passengers is a challenge. It was generally organized, but we both contracted a stomach bug that same morning, so this was more of a challenge. What was especially distressing is the long, long wait outside the ship to go through Customs. The weather was probably in the single digits, and it was windy in New York. Passengers were frozen to the bone. Norwegian needs to make changes to this unhealthy, miserable disembarking process.
Beautiful water and great area to relax
Good general overview of city and residential areas
