At 6th or 7th NCL cruise - usually hit the newest ship in the fleet. The Escape was nice ship. The layout & design was especially nice because I thought it provided a lot of extra, out-of-the-way spaces like the Waterfront seating during the day the restaurants were not open. You want a nice place to nap, or read a book, or grab a table and play cards with friends. And you usually had your choice of sun or shade too.
Made all 3 port stops but most enjoyed a $20, 2-hour open-air jeep tour of Tortolla. Well worth the price and was not arranged until we arrived in port. Rode the Tram up th hill in St. Thomas and visited the Atlantis Casino & open areas. We got there via the $8 r/t water taxi. Now I know some people might have thought it going to be the S.S. Minnow, but all made it there and back and it was just a little exciting.
With the exception of just a couple staff, we got great service and felt appreciated by many that we saw every day. Boy they work hard!
This was a handicapped cabin - which I was able to book in advance. I choose it specifically because of the location, but more importantly because of the size. NCL notified me that I may have to give up the cabin, but luckily did not have to move. There was so much room - I could have had a late-night disco every night. Our Cabin Steward Jayson, was like a ghost - but the room was always ready whenever we returned. He did a great job.
2nd time to St. Thomas, but didn't explore very far. Road the Tram up to Paradise Point. $21/adult. Ride it up, have a Bushwacker and lunch - it's great view.
Grabbed an open-air vehicle and got a 2-hour tour of the island for $20/pp. A fun driver that stopped for pictures, gave some good history (and stories) and also at some local places. Very good money spent and it was last-minute idea.
