Our honeymoon cruise was amazing! Knowing how many people are on this ship, I was concerned about the crowds. NCL has done an amazing job of managing this, however. The Breakaway is broken into small pockets of action throughout the ship. The restaurants appear small and the bars/nightclubs are cozy. You can freely explore about the ship and find where you wish to go. The food on this cruise was the best we ever had. Even without an upgraded meal at a specialty restaurant, the food was terrific! We always do Teppanyaki, and the steak house, but this time added the Brazilian Steakhouse. It was so terrific. This was our honeymoon, so we used the spa frequently and splurged on some really great treatments, expensive, but worth it.

As far as the ports go, we never have been to this part of the world, so we went casually into the ports. With many cruise ships in some ports, it got busy. The best stop we had was in St. Thomas, where we just hailed a local cabby and paid him $25 per person for an island tour. He took us all over the island and up into the top, where we were able to take amazing pics. No real need for a ship excursion on most of these islands, as there are many taxi drivers there who will customize an experience for you. The only excursion we took was in Barbados, where we did a beach day. Good thing! The ship reserved an entire section of beach cabanas and our bus took us there where were able to take in the sun and sea. All others were sold out. This was worth it. Everyone takes USD, so money was never an issue anywhere. Overall, this ship is well worth a trip. Even on sea days, just hanging out on the waterfront with a book will help anyone relax. Great trip!

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BA

Plenty of room in this cabin. Lots of storage, including under bed for luggage. Bed is located next to door, so fresh air is nice to have. It is a perfect location in the middle of the ship. Breakfast at the cafe is one way, the spa is the other. Quiet room as well. Good choice.

Port Reviews

San Juan

Just walking around old town was nice.

St. Thomas

Beautiful Port! Take an island tour!

St. Maarten

Right off ship in port, we took a cab for $7 (each way/total) to Orient beach. This is a great beach. For $10 in these ports, you get a chair and a free drink with a cabana umbrella.

Antigua

We took an island tour with another couple for $20/per person and got a nice tour of the island. Plenty of taxi tour operators near by.
