This was our 16th cruise, but first on Norwegian,
Problems we encountered:
1. Refused to open door on balcony between our connecting cabins.
Cabin seemed more cramped than other cruise line balcony cabins. The closet was much smaller, no drawers by the bed, and only one nightstand (which was about 6" wide). Only three small drawers for clothing, and some oddly-placed shelves in the closet. The balcony was smaller than you find on Princess, Royal or Holland.
We love New Orleans, It's a great pre-cruise or post-cruise city!
We rented a jeep and drove ourselves around the island, stopping at little dives on the south and east side that were not crowded by cruise travelers.
Harvest Caye was very nice. Only downside is that although its a private island, you have to pay for all food and drink. Very nice pool.
Take a taxi to town and enjoy the nice restaurants and free beach.
Norwegian does not dock at the pier where you can ride the ski lift to the beach. Norwegian's pier is old and decrepid. We had to tender in - and the tender service was so slow that we missed our privately planned excursion. Don't bother going into town,. Either book an excursion or stay on the ship.
