Recommendations from friends. We were skeptical about traveling with a large group. However, the first night we met an amazing couple. The gentleman was 104 and the lady was in her nineties. They were energetic and charming. We were on walking tours with them and they had no issues with the physical exertion. From that first night we met many interesting and enjoyable people in all age groups. The daily tours were well planned, interesting and included professional and knowledgeable guides. One guide was able to describe a church from outside the church without missing a beat. She was able to describe the seven tapestries in order without hesitation. That was typical of the knowledge of the guides. Most afternoons, we explored by ourselves, but did enjoy lunch in town with fellow cruisers.
The food aboard ship was excellent. The service was impeccable from a friendly, cheerful staff. The Program Director was remarkable, very friendly and available. Her enthusiasm was evident and added greatly to an already marvelous experience. The remainder of the crew was just as professional and friendly. From housekeeping to the Captain, nothing was too much trouble or inconvenient. By the time we left, we felt like part of the Viking family. Our extended stay in Paris was more of the same. Exceptional accommodations and a professional, helpful and cheerful staff. All of the Viking employees with whom we came in contact were dedicated to enhancing the experience. We are looking forward to our next Viking River Cruise, we know we will not be disappointed. Our most difficult decision will be which cruise to take.
