We were given our priority check in for being platinum members. We expected to board at noon. We were told we might get to board as early as ll:30 am. We did not get to board until 12:40 pm and we had number 1! The terminal was so congested with people, no room for people to sit and they just kept herding everyone to the side. Once aboard the breakaway we went to the Savor diningroom and had a nice lunch. The ship is decorated nicely. Staff in dining room very efficient. It was after 2pm that our room was ready. We found extremely narrow hallways in the passenger area. We had an inside cabin, that has to be the smallest cabin we have ever had in our nineteen sailings! Complete lack of storage, the closet had shelves that were so narrow they were useless. The vanity/desk are was triangle shaped and not of much use either. The room key must be placed in slot by door to keep the lights on in the room and power the outlet, very inconvenient. The bathroom was a nice size with decent shower space. You must reserve your entertainment times, as the theatre is not large enough to accommodate passengers in two sittings. The smallest theatre on a ship I have yet to see. No large open atrium. Two banks of elevators one at the forward and one aft. Long waits to use elevators. Midship you must use the steps. No real headliner entertainment. Only entertainment in the theatre is the production company shows, which could use lots of improvement. The second city improv show was good, however seating is limited you must reserve, and the chairs are old hard wood desk chairs. not comfortable at all. In fact, we were not able to find not one chair, bench, any area to sit on the ship that was the least bit comfortable. We waited for our priority disembarkation color to be called, only to have them call three colors at one time, so no real priority given. We also did not receive in our stateroom when we arrived our chocolate covered strawberries or our chocolates. I went to guest services the next day, she made a call and said they would be delivered to our stateroom. Only the chocolates came, never saw the strawberries. My husband ordered flowers for me at the start of the cruise, they were never delivered either. No freestyle cruising when you have to make lots of reservations just to see a mediocre show. Not impressed with the ship at all. Not impressed with service at the terminal. Will probably not sail out of New York again, likewise, will not be taking the Breakaway again any time soon, or any other ship with its poor design. For a new ship we expected that the noise levels in the dining room would be better, however the noise in the dining room was very loud. Large ship, lots of people, and small theatre, swimming pool, common areas, poor design for a cruise ship.

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom

Cabin IC

Very small. Poor storage. Television has few channels. Was watching news channel and was getting soccer game audio instead of news audio. Poor design of room. Bathroom of good size, shower good.
