My husband and I had never been on a cruise. He didn't think he would like an ocean cruise. A family member had been on this particular cruise on Viking and highly recommended it.
We both felt it was worth every penny we paid for it. The food was delicious and service was impeccable. The crew was extremely friendly and went out of their way to be of service. The cultural trips were excellent and very well organized. All guides were very interesting as they described what we were seeing. We would have liked to spent more time at Normandy. We liked the fact that we gave one tip when we left and really did not have to spend much money during the cruise.
We also enjoyed three extra days in Paris prior to the cruise. Viking helped arrange this part of the trip by providing a hotel, a conseirge who spoke English and could answer our questions, help us plan sight-seeing, meals and transportation from the airport and to the ship, etc.
I was not quiet prepared for the small size of our cabin, however, it was indeed adequate and provided all the amenities we needed to be comfortable. With all there was to do, we spent little time there anyway. I enjoyed the great view of the river. The cabin was extremely clean and maid service was provided twice daily.
We went independently to the Louve. Did not take a tour.
It was lots of walking, but very worth it.
We enjoyed seeing the cathedral and shopping in the city.
It was lots of walking, but enjoyed seeing the quaint, French city and shopping.
