We wanted to see some of the fjords in Norway, but also the other ports in the Baltic - Denmark, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Russia, Finland, and Sweden. The most challenging part of any such cruise is getting there and back. Viking made it very easy. They met us at the airport and had attendants in the baggage area who helped load the luggage on carts and take it out to waiting busses. We thought we might have to delay boarding, since we arrived in late morning--too early for our 3 pm embarkation time. This was not the case at all. Though we couldn't get into our cabin until 2 or 3, we were able to relax, have a meal, and discover this great ship. Disembarkation was similarly stress-less. Great job. The ship was beautiful and more than we had hoped for. We had taken several river trips with Viking and were always impressed with the crew, the food, the service -- really everything. The Baltic was a great itinerary. The speakers Viking had on board describing the ports and history of the region were excellent, and the entertainment was very well done. One final note of praise and thanks go to the staff that books the included and optional tours. We found that some of the tours we had pre-booked would be too demanding. Those staff persons could not have been more helpful in changing the bookings and looking out for us to make sure we were okay.

Viking's Homelands cruise of the Baltic was a delight

Cabin Review

Cabin 3030
Since the ship was brand new, everything in the cabin was beautifully crafted, modern luxurious design, clean, spacious, with more than adequate room. Great bathroom. Very friendly and attentive staff. They even had free washer/dryers down the hall, even supplying the soap.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Very nice views of the countryside from the Flam Railway, with a meal at a hotel high on the mountain. Great vistas. I wonder how they get around in the snows of winter.
