This cruise was a retirement gift for my wife and we were joined by our two boys and their wife/girlfriend. We were looking for a fun time and an "experience." This cruise exceeded our expectations. I probably read 250 reviews by prior passengers on the Breakaway so I was a bit apprehensive along with being excited for the trip. I'll hit the major points.

Getting on the ship was very smooth. The staff at the pier were very helpful in directing us where we needed to go and after registering we did have to wait about 45 minutes until boarding. We were comfortably seated during this time and made some new friends. Getting off the ship was a breeze. Everything was moved up due to Hermine but we had a nice breakfast, grabbed our bags and headed for the exit. We kept anticipating a long line somewhere and it never happened, not even at the elevator. It took us 15 minutes to get from our cabin door to 48th and 12th where we met our ride home.

We had the dining package which gave us 4 specialty dinners. Get this package, it's so worth it. The food, service and atmosphere at the restaurants was outstanding. Cagney's was fabulous as was Ocean Blue, but there is an additional upcharge for Ocean Blue. It was worth it. Read more
