Wanted to take a Mediterranean cruise all my life and was so looking forward to seeing all the historical landmarks the ports of call had to offer on this cruise. The Carnival Vista is an absolutely amazing ship but in my opinion too big. I found myself waiting in line for every single thing I did on the ship behind hundreds of people. I will say the food and service was outstanding on this cruise. One of the excursions I took was THE BEST OF AMALFI COAST We spent more time driving and going by boat to see the destinations and then having very little time once we arrived. I definitely do not recommend this excursion for anyone who has a tendency for motion sickness as the drive up and through the mountain is very curvey and the excursion includes a boat trip to get to Positano. Most ports we docked and a very industrial part of the port and so to get to town you have no choice but to pay for the transfer from the ship or for a taxi as it was too far to walk.

Cabin Review

Premium Vista Balcony

Cabin 9C

This cabin was a huge disappointment! I was so excited to finally be able to book the corner wrap around cabin. This is the first ship Carnival has built with a pool area at the back with the aft cabins looking over. I had to listen to Cuban music most nights until 1am because this section of the ship is where the Havana suites are located, not so good when you have to be up at 6 AM for a long excursions. Even though this cabin has a big wrap around balcony there was no lounge chair provided only regular chairs and tables I had to complain to get even one lounge chair the kind that you put your feet up on and the back reclines just so I could relax and get some sun. The way the cabin is configured the head of the bed is against the windows with very little space to walk around the edge of the bed . The bathroom door and balcony door were right there where my head laid in the bed. This cabin was not worth the extra money we paid!

Port Reviews

Taormina (Messina)

This was the only port we docked in that you could get off the ship and walk into town. We were able to walk around and so a little bit of shopping. It was Sunday so most stores were closed. We found a fabulous little cafe called Bar Fumia where we sat outside and had the most amazing gelato, wine, lemoncelo and croquettes. Loved Messina/ Sicily

Marseille

Took the bus shuttle from the ship (17 Euro per person) into town and walked around, shopped had lunch. This is a beautiful place.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

Took the bus shuttle into town and was able to walk around, shop and relax this is a beautiful port as well.
