The Carnival Vista is a real stunner, that's for certain. Gleaming white and topped with waterslides, the much-touted SkyRide and the iconic Carnival funnel, this ship certainly makes a good first impression. Having sailed on its Mediterranean itinerary, it was also the largest ship in every port we visited - something that is always a nice experience.
However, the cruise didn't begin very well unfortunately. Embarkation in Athens was truly chaotic, with hundreds of fellow guests crammed into a hot, white marquee for an hour and a half before being allowed to board. We were warned about strike issues at the port, but the only issues here seemed to be created by Carnival. Sitting around for nearly two hours when you just want to be on board is a frustrating start to any cruise.
Once we were eventually onboard, we explored the ship There was a great energy, with an introductory pool party event t the main Beach Pool, featuring Matt, the Cruise Director. This was the first experience of the Vista's CD, and he certainly wasn't lacking enthusiasm. We didn't get any drinks on arrival however, which would have been nice to enjoy whilst watching.
