We liked the itinerary and this cruise line a lot. It was one of our top choices. We found that the best night to do the cover charge restaurants was the first night for 1/2 price cover charges. We had never been to The Porch and The Lawn Club Grill and they were worth the extra. And the changed the crepes i.e. on this ship to a fresh sushi bar/ cafe. But the special birthday dinner in the Tuscan Grille was disappointing as we were docked in a less than scenic area of Athens. The wait staff were not smiling and busy that night only 6 tables of the total had guests but it was 7:00 p.m.and we were In port overnight. Our waiter didn't smile till dessert and my husband regretted tipping him. Most of the specialty restaurants were not sold out or full when we looked in on them.
The cruise went smoothly with no problems and we enjoyed the select seating in the main dining room without a wait and no boxes for waiting as other cruise lines.
The entertainment was better than expected but the cast shows were very loud and the storylines were hard to follow. During Elysium and Maxx shows the cast sang current popular songs to go with the theme of the shows but there was little dialogue to link it all together. We found the accapella group We3, David Austen, and the Queens of Rhythm singers to be the best choices, and the house band of Blind Vinyl from the UK was great with a huge repertoire. There was one night or two where 2-3 singers from the cast with Broadway show credits sang their favorite songs.
The cabin was very well maintained and nicely decorated with not a lot of wear for its age, 4 years old. But... I didn't like the bed next to the sliding glass window, I prefer the seating area to be next to the glass. We had a nice big veranda and could see 90 degrees not the usual 180 degrees in a veranda cabin. When in port if you sat on your veranda the cleaning of the Lido deck splashed water on you. The cabin steward met all our needs but after the first 4 days he disappeared. And the cabin was a little back of the opening for the elevators and the atrium so you could hear all the activity in the atrium till About 10:30 p.m. outside your door. The starboard side had opening and closing glass sliding doors to cut off the noise from the elevators and the atrium.
