This was our fourth cruise. We have earlier cruised on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity & Princess. Cruises are a good way to have a leisure holiday where you can choose what you want to do on every day you are on the ship. The ship it self is very interesting to explore and there are many tucked away places of interest which many miss if you wish to do the day long shore trips at all stops.
Royal Princess is a good ship and the balcony room we had was very nice. My experience compared over the past cruises that we have done is
There is cost cutting at many levels. On food : Some exotic items are off the menu, the choices at dinner are lesser, midnight buffets stopped, sushi which till the last time we cruised on Princess was paid in is now priced extra, they encourage you to buy WATER? There is no thermos in the cabins and we called for x glasses from room service for the night. We asked for berries on desert as some on the table did not want to eat sugar or aspartame. The dinning room had a tough time locating the same!!!!! One of the guests on the table asked for prawns which were being served at the Horizon dinning area was politely refused!!!!!
It was nice having a balcony as the weather was made to make use of the balcony. We had our breakfast most days on the balcony served through room service.
The sad part was that the cabin was not vacuumed nor the balcony cleaned regularly. The towels were not not fluffy nor were they full size towels. We travelled for two weeks before the cruise staying at different hotels this was the worst in the towels we used. Had to tell the cabin attendant to clean the balcony as a few nail clippings remained there for over 2 days till asked to be swept.
