Review of the RCCL Oasis of the Seas cruise from 4.2.2016 through 4.9.2016.
I'm starting this review on Day 2 so we'll see what the rest of the week brings, but so far, my wife and I are missing Princess Cruises in a BIG way and this is most likely our LAST RCCL cruise. We are Elite on Princess Cruises, which have a few simple benefits that you don't really miss till you don't have them on another cruise line. We are Platinum on RCCL but aren't taking advantage of any of the benefits -- I think a couple complimentary cocktail parties -- big whoop... we purchased the drink package so we're not concerned with any free booze anywhere. We are also traveling with another couple who have NO previous RCCL cruises under their belts so we're not concerned about any freebies barwise, opting, obviously, to hang out with them. I can see if you're Diamond or Pinnacle, then you get the "Royal" treatment but not if you're in any class lower that than in our humble opinion.
PROS: EXCELLENT room. We booked kinda last minute off the suggestion of our friends whom we're traveling with and my excellent TA (message me for her contact info) explained there were literally THREE cabins available at our time of booking. We have an outside cabin with a FRONT facing LARGE window on Deck 8. We're likening this room almost to a mini-suite on any other line we've been on. And the location on the ship couldn't be better: all the way forward. It's quiet and a pleasure to come "home" to. Obviously, a higher category outside stateroom. Really cool to watch the stars from our rearranged couch right next to the very large window in our room the night we left St. Maarten.
EXCELLENT cabin all the way forward... HUGE window... we moved the couch over the bed and to the other side of the room so we could sit in the couch and look out the window. Felt like a mini-suite!!!
Took a cab to Magen's Bay. Out of the frying pan, into the fire LOL.... LOTS of people, but what do you expect when there are FIVE ships in port; right?
