This was our 3rd cruise on the Spirit. There are many negative reviews about this ship, but then, negative minded people will always be the first to speak up. Personally, we prefer smaller ships over the mega-liners. The Spirit is the smallest, oldest ship in the fleet, but that's where it ends. It is well maintained: the crew was constantly painting, sweeping, mopping and cleaning everywhere we looked throughout the cruise.

It is unique: It was built for the Asian Market in late 90's, and the décor has a very oriental feel wherever you go. The crew is very friendly: due to its' small size, the crew gets to know 2000 guests vs 5000. We sailed on this ship 3 months ago, and we were surprised that several crewmembers remembered us. After a few days, we were greeted by name in some of the bars and restaurants.

Contrary to some comments - it is NOT a "training ship" for new crew. There is crew turnaround on any ship, so you're always going to find folks on their first contract. We got that verified from senior staff. Most of our waiters and bartenders were on their 3rd and up to 10th contract.

Cabin Review

Oceanview Picture Window

Cabin OC

Like many others have mentioned - there is only one outlet in the cabin (other than the one for razors in the bath) and it's only rated at 500 watts - not enough for a personal hair dryer. My wife said the one in the bath was ok - just not very powerful, but better than the one we had in our suite on our last trip on this ship. The picture window was bigger than portholes, and it was hosed off each time we hit port so we had a nice view. The cabin was in great shape - everything worked and no issues with anything. The was a one person couch, writing table and a nightstand. More than enough closet space with lots of drawers and shelves. The flat screen TV was on the small size, but they do show movies in the clubs.
