Having worked on cruise ships for the past ten years I was looking forward to just being a passenger. I had never been on the Liberty of the Seas and didn't realize how many people could be aboard it. Since this was the last week before school started, there were loads of children on board.

My first complaint was the embarkation process. There were very long lines and it took forever. The second complaint was the lack of elevators. There was always a long wait after each event let out (shows in particular). Because the ship was full, the shows were crowded and they had to put on extra performances of the ice show and one of the big shows.

The ship had very little for seniors to do on sea days. The music was loud and noisy in the the atrium and there was not much quiet space to sit with a group of people to have a relaxing conversation or play a game of cards.

Port Reviews

Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor is a small town and easily walkable. Took the free bus to the Arcadia National Park. Had the lobster roll which was expensive but delicious

Halifax

Took two separate loops. Went to the Nova Scotia Art Museum. I was there ib 1956 with the US Navy. I didn't recognize a thing. Nice city.

Portland (Maine)

Got to see most of Portland. Did the hop on Hop off. Good guide

Saint John (New Brunswick)

Interesting city. bus guide was terrific. Saw all of St. John.
