The Anthem of the Seas was our third cruise, what a disaster. drove through the night to get to Southampton the parking was taken care of and we were looking forward to our £8000 holiday this was our first encounter with the disaster that awaited us.
Southampton bording was a total shambles, my wife is disabled and the delay's, well unbelieveable - 3 hours, no refreshments, no seat's in fact nobody to turn to for assistance and no explantion for the delay in boarding until about half an hour before actual boarding started, then the passengers were pushing and shoving with no regards for anyone.
our luggage arrived, well sort of - my clothes went missing, the whole suitcase, it sat in guest services for almost a whole day nobody put a call out saying lost luggage could be collected from there, I wore the same clothes for nearly two days. The cabin was small and not what I expected, if I had stuck with the arrangements our 18 yr old son and 15 yr old daughter would have had to sleep together; unacceptable, my wife andd daughter slept on the sofa bed and I had the double bed split for myself and my son, who slept on deck for the first night. I tried for a change of cabin and was told there was nothing available.
small suitable for three people but definitely not four, especially 15 and 18 year olds
bus into town 18 euros each got a taxi with for people (family) 22 euros, pleasant, nice harbour market, friendly people
not a bad place, narrow streets this makes it very hot but quite pleaseant, recommend an early walk as it get really uncomfortable after mid-day
very steep narrow streets to gift shops, you have to be fit - pleasant place
plenty of shops but you are warned about pick pockets, be very careful otherwise a very nice place, sailing in and out of port take time out to view the statue of Christ looks like a mini Christ the redeemer in Rio and the bridge resembles the Golden Gate bridge in san Francisco.
