How can you say anything bad about sailing to Alaska. Fortunately the glaciers we visited were spectacular but the ship left much to be desired. We were on Deck 11 and right by an elevator so it should have been easy to go up to Deck 14 and the Horizon Court. First Day after getting off the elevator on 14, which way was Horizon Court. We went to the left and ended up in the Spa which seemed odd. We were told to just walk straight ahead but the door said "Emergency Only". Staffer said to ignore the sign and go through the door. Next time we thought we would go to the right. We stepped to the outside of the ship and had to walk forward to get to the pool areas to get to Horizon Court. Difference on this ship is that Horizon Court is in the front of the ship and not in the back like other ships I've been on. When it was warm, it wasn't a problem walking on the outside to Horizon but the days it was raining and windy, not good. So much for having an elevator close. After that we just walked the hall to a different elevator.

I would say that the food in Horizon was below average. I didn't lack for food - I could make a good salad, had lots of fruit and the mac and cheese was good. I had several cheese sandwiches on their good rolls. Calamari was also very good. German night usually is a favorite but the pork schnitzel was hard and dry along with the spaetzle. I joked they could have used my pieces of schnitzel as hockey pucks. Desserts lacked flavor too. They looked good but key lime pie lacked any lime flavor. Service in Horizon was generally good. Someone usually came by to check what drinks we wanted. Carmen was especially helpful when my traveling companion had her arm in a sling and needed help with her tray. On two busy lunch hours when lots of people had to get off the ship, there was only one line open and the line was LONG. So we went and got a couple pieces of pizza and took them to our room so we could get off. We ate in Bordeaux Dining Room 2 nights - we both had OK meals and special desserts. Breakfast was good being able to have omlettes along with cereal and fruit.

Our room steward, Edmundo, was one of the best on all the Princess cruises I have been on (29). He was talkative and friendly - a real asset.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin had enough room for two women and their "stuff". Noticed the small shower again compared to the bigger showers on the Regal and Royal. Felt a little claustrophobic a couple times while in the shower. But enjoyed having a larger balcony compared to the Regal and Royal. You really notice how much bigger it is.

Port Reviews

Vancouver

Other than spending 5 hours in a hospital due to a fall, enjoyed the city a lot. The haze was a little heavy due to the forest fires but that won't be there all the time
