We sailed on June 5, 2015 from Boston to Bermuda. We are a family of 4. Parents mid 40s boys ages 11 and 13. This was our first cruise with NCL, but we have cruised previously with RCI (twice) and Carnival (once). Overall this was a great cruise for us. We got a good deal on a Family Suite, so we got the Ultimate Beverage Package and Ultimate Dining Package for all 4 of us included with our fare. Therefore we did not eat in the Main Dining Rooms, but did eat at all Specialty Restaurants as well as the Buffet.
We thought that the food was good. Yes-even at the buffet. I actually found it better (by a small margin) than either Carnival or Royal (past cruises). I liked that you could always get something to snack on (although we did not take advantage of that availability, on a past cruise a friend we were traveling with is diabetic, and it was lucky that she brought some snacks with her, because on Carnival it was difficult to find anything other than room service after the buffet and MDR closed around 9:30 pm).
The service around the ship was friendlier than I ever remember from past cruises (and we thought those cruises were good as well). I really do not think that I passed a crew member in the hall without them saying "hello" or "good morning".
Cabin needs a little TLC, but not too bad. There was a squeaky board in the ceiling when the seas got rough.
Got there a day early. Went to Fenway and saw the Red Sox. The day we came back we did part of the Freedom Trail. Incredible city for history. Will look forward to coming back and spending more time. The only downside is that it was cold--in June.
