My husband and I are retired and have cruised several times but it had been several years since our last one. I selected this cruise because of the itinerary first, a great rate second and the cruise line and size of the ship third.
Yes, the ship is older and smaller but we didn't see it as a problem. The Spirit had been refurbished and it showed, it is well maintained and spacious. Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth and easy. We found the ship easy to maneuver...no place, other than the art gallery, was hard to find. We especially enjoyed the Free Style dining. Our favorites were the main dining rooms, Windows and The Garden. Regretfully, we had a very bad meal in Le Bistro, one of the speciality dining offerings. The dining staff is excellent. Everyone we encountered made us feel welcomed, even our waiter in Le Bistro. In fact, all staff were welcoming...always a hello, good morning/afternoon/night, welcome back (from shore excursions), etc..
We were not attracted to most of the entertainment. The show we did see was Elements, which was excellent.
Our cabin was a balcony on deck 11. Having read other reviews and seeing YouTube video of the balcony rooms, I was very pleasantly surprised. We were satisfied with its amenities...we found there to be ample space for clothing and storage (shelves and drawers). They one draw back is that there is only one electrical outlet on a small desk. One review suggested a power cord...we had one but never used it.
