I am a Platinum NCL Latitudes member and have been sailing on NCL since I was a teenager in the late 1980s. We cruise every 1-3 years. We just returned from our first cruise on the Getaway and we LOVED it. Lots to talk about but I will focus on the things that I think made the Getaway stand out from the other NCL cruises we have been on over the past 10 years. (Pearl, Jewel, Dawn, Sun, Sky)
We are a family of four. My son is 8 and my daughter is 12. We stayed in two adjoining balcony rooms on deck 13 toward the back staircase. The rooms are a bit smaller than on the other ships, but the use of space and layout is smart and efficient and we had no complaints except that the balcony is very tiny. We opened up the partition between our two rooms and it helped.
This cruise was SOLD OUT and I was very worried that it would feel overcrowded. However, I am happy to report that it did not feel any more crowded that any other NCL cruise I have ever been on. The ship is so large, with so many places to be and so many things to do, that everyone is spread out and nothing seems overcrowded at all, except maybe for the adult pool itself. But, we were always able to find a few chairs on the upper level looking over the pool, in the sun, which is what we wanted.
We stayed in two adjoining mid ship balcony rooms on deck 13 toward the back staircase. The rooms are a bit smaller than on the other ships, but the use of space and layout is smart and efficient and we had no complaints except that the balcony is very tiny. We opened up the balcony partition between our two rooms and had one long one.
