2nd cruise for my wife and I. Both with RCI. We are in our early 30's Flew from Toronto to New Orleans early Saturday morning. $30 cab ride to the port. Checked our luggage and went to the French Quarter for Lunch. Had reservations at NOLA (Emeril's restaurant) Very Tasty and prices were reasonable. Went to the port terminal around 3pm. We were on the ship within 5 minutes. Very quick and painless.
Went straight to our stateroom. It was a junior suite. The bedding was new, but the rest of the furniture was original. The last time my wife & I cruised, we had an Oceanview room, so the suite seemed huge. The balcony was great and we spent a lot of time on it. Our stateroom attendant was Alexis and he did a good job (although he did forget our bedtime mints the first 2 nights!!) The bedding was new, but I don't think it had been washed, so the first night the bedding was a bit stiff. We asked it to be washed, which it was and much more comfortable.
Although the ship just came out of dry dock, there was still many repairs, etc. that needed to be completed. First off, the balcony divider between us and our neighbors was broken and flapped around in the wind. We asked our stateroom attendant to have it fixed, but all they did was tie it off with yellow poly rope. It still banged around in the wind, so we had to fold up a facecloth to keep it from making noise. It was never repaired during the cruise. Also, the pools were empty the first day, since they were re-painting them. Some of the steps around the pool were raw plywood instead of teak. No big deal, but our expectations were a bit higher. The Windjammer was also re-done and looked nice.
