My wife and i just completed a 6 day caribbean cruise on Independence of the Seas. It truly was a great time. I have been on cruises before, and this was better than the others. We enjoyed the nightly shows, as nearly everynight were comedians - stand up, ventriloquist, juggler - all fun. The in-house singers and dancers are ok, but once you've seen them once there is no need to see them again. The dinners were very good, except one night was a little weak. We did the upscale Giovannis dinner one night($25 per person), and it was excellent and worth the money. We are in our early 50s and very much enjoyed flowrider on a boogie board, Dog and Badger pub with nightly guitar player, hot tub that hangs over the sides of the ship, windjammer buffer, lots of artwork through out the ship, solarium adult pool, ice skating, and more.
The ports were great. In Grand Cayman we highly recommend sting ray city. It is magical. In falmouth take an excursion that includes Dunns River falls. It is amazing and fun. We snorkeled there as well, and it was decent. CocoCay was night chill beach day. Another nice even was the Make a Wish walk. you purchase a t shirt or towel and walk the upper deck with the captain and others. All of the money goes to the charity. it was nice. Overall, it was a great ship, the crew was happy and helpful, and there was plenty to eat. We recommend it.
We had a balcony cabin on deck 6, starboard, near the stern. it was outstanding. It was large enough, had a fridge and a 65 square foot balcony. The bed was comfy too
