We booked back-to-back weeks - Eastern then Western Caribbean, for a total of 14 days. We had seen many of the ports before, so instead of booking excursions, we were content to just stroll contentedly and enjoy the sunshine. It's a kick to be in the water on the beach in Grand Turk, with the ship docked just 50 yards away (or so it seemed). It's a unique beach, and it's nice to not have to tender to it.

All the ports were pleasant (although we can do without Jamaica, so we stayed on board in Montego Bay). But Half Moon Cay, which we've visited many times on HAL cruises, deserves special mention, because of the fabulous beach and the wonderful array of activities - if you're so inclined - as well as a fun BBQ. Key West was a bit of a downer, because it was so crowded the day we visited.

Dining: We can't praise this highly enough. We've sailed on Oceania, which is supposed to be upscale and feature a superior dining experience. The Eurodam cuisine in the MDR is easily a match, if not better. Every dinner was outstanding. We also did the Tamarind (once again) and frankly, we wish they'd open a branch in Toronto! Also went to Canaletto (again) - great as well. We're not interested in the Pinnacle, having tried it on a previous cruise and been disappointed.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Cabin V

The room itself is very functional, typical of a HAL ship. But as mentioned above, don't book cabins on deck 5 - at least the ones overlooking the lifeboats. The view is fine, but the balcony is very shallow. If that doesn't bother you, you'll be fine. But it bothered us.
