My husband and I were excited to celebrate New Year's aboard the Celebrity Constellation. This was our fifth cruise with Celebrity Cruise Lines and our second aboard the Constellation. Check in and embarkation went smoothly. We were greeted by our cabin steward almost immediately and that was the first and last time we saw him. Our stateroom (Concierge Class) was fine. Gone are the chocolates on the pillows each evening.
Overall, our experience was a let down. The staff onboard are working very hard, but the cutbacks are everywhere. The service is the dining room, is "get them in and get them out" (select dining). We had reserved twice at the Tuscan Grille and ended up cancelling the second visit. If you are going to pay an extra $90.00 for two to dine, then the food and service should be exceptional. My husband's steak was not edible. The first one was ordered medium rare, came well done. He could not eat it so sent it back, the second came medium, but was so tough, that he could not cut it. Once the second steak was delivered, our server was no where to be seen, so my husband just gave up. No apologies, no questions as to why his plate was still full when the server picked up, just the bill, and a reminder that a gratuity would be appreciated. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
We had an onboard credit that never showed up on our final bill. When we received it at 9pm the evening before debarkation, we went to Guest Services. They could do nothing for us. I have a hard time understanding when you have documentation showing the onboard credit from Celebrity Cruises (which we did), they cannot honour it and update your account. Instead, we had to wait until we travelled home, to call Celebrity Cruises, who immediately did refund the credit. This was the second cruise this had happened to us.
