My husband and I are in our late twenties. This was my 3rd and his 2nd cruise with RCI. We left from San Juan and traveled to Aruba, Curacao, St. Maartin, and St. Thomas. We flew into San Juan on American the day before embarking and stayed overnight at the Embassy Suites next to the airport. Both of our flights departed late because of weather conditions in the midwest delaying our flight crews (both times the plane was at the gate waiting with us). The Embassy Suites was in walking distance of the beach and had a really nice pool area, although the live entertainment in the lobby area near the casino was quite loud and could be heard in the living room area of the suite. The free drinks from 5-7 were a plus but the hot breakfast buffet was just OK.

We had printed out our set sail passed and arrived at the pier around noon where we met total chaos. There were no porters to help you with you bags and you had to wait in a long line to check them in. On top of that it was hard to find anyone to give you information on what to do and to get luggage tags (we upgraded at the last minutes when the prices dropped so our original luggage tags sent to us were no longer correct). On the plus side the line did move quickly and by the time you got your bags taken care there was no really much of a line to wait in to check in. All in all we were on the ship and in the windjammer by 12:45pm.

Since booking the cruise we had been keeping up with the member reviews and were a little worried by the recent number of reviews complaining about the bad behavior of some of the Puerto Rican passengers. I don't know if we picked a good time to go or just got lucky, but we had no such issues. Yes there were some Puerto Ricans on the cruise, but no more than any other nationality, and we did not notice any bad behavior from the ones we did see.
