Embarkation was excellent, slick and quick. On arrival the cabins were ready and looked in reasonable condition. However, after 2 days the air conditioning broke down and became stuck on cold. The engineer came out to fix it, he spent over 2 hours in our cabin so we missed being able to get ready for dinner. He then said he had fixed it. Well, he had stopped it from blowing cold air - it would not cool the room when the temperature outside was in the 30's! They sent another engineer who made me feel as if I was a menopausal middle aged woman suffering hot flushes. We asked for the temperature to be measured with the air conditioning on the lowest setting it would go - It was 24 degrees in our room!!! They then provided us with a desk fan!!!!!! Throughout the cruise there seemed to be problems with the air conditioning not only in the other cabins but also in venues such as the theatre which became uncomfortable hot on several nights.
The range of entertainment was the poorest we have had on a cruise, although one act - Gareth Oliver a ventriloquist was the best act we have ever seen. After the theatre show there was hardly anything on at all, except for ball room dancing or quizzes.
The food was excellent and although this was not a fault of P & O we had a couple with the worst table manners we have ever known. The lady of the couple would begin her meal before the vegetables were given out - she hardly had veg and if she was served first she would finish her meal before the rest of the table had been served!!!!!
