We have just completed back-to-back 10 + 11 night "Ultimate Caribbean" cruises on the Summit (Feb.21/03 and Mar 3/03). I will try and restrict my comments to areas not already covered in the many excellent reviews posted. In general terms however, I must concur that the ship is beautiful, the service is excellent, the food is great and the entertainment, for the most part, quite good.

We had a standard sized balcony cabin (#7084), which we were very pleased with. The floor to ceiling windows/balcony door certainly help to avoid that closed-in feeling. I must also agree/repeat that we'll never want another cabin WITHOUT a balcony! It's a great place to retreat to after a hectic day, or simply to contemplate the sunrise/sunset/waves flowing by. We noticed "passenger noise" only once (probably just good luck in "neighbour selection"), however good earplugs are always an essential safeguard. We experienced no ship vibration while in the cabin (did feel some at one time while in the stern restaurant, but not an issue). The sound of the waves slicing off the ship is quite noticeable even with the balcony door closed (Celebrity requests that it be kept closed for air conditioning purposes), particularly on rougher days, but I found that to be a pleasant "lullaby". The seas were quite calm for most of our trip (a little more motion from Panama to Aruba - about 10 foot swells). My wife has in the past been a little sensitive to the motion, but she had no problems at all on this trip.

I'll get my whining out of the way early: the usual complaint about inconsiderate chair hogs - I'm afraid they're always going to be with us. Some were even reserving chairs in the sun and shade at the same time. Celebrity does not appear to be doing anything about it (contrary to some of their literature), and after our chat with the chief housekeeper, it appears that they feel that there isn't much they can do. If it weren't for environmental considerations, I would love to chuck all those strategically placed books, visors, shoes etc. etc. overboard!!
