This was our 19th cruise, but our first on Viking. Previously, we've sailed on a number of the mainstream lines, as well as Oceania. Our experience on Viking was largely excellent, with a few minor cavils. Here's our list of positives and negatives:

Viking shipboard service was impeccable.
The included excursions did not always match their descriptions, especially the driving excursions.
Some of the excursion guides seemed to lack training and enthusiasm which made the excursion below expectations.

While most of us were disappointed in not being able to visit The Holy Lands - we certainly understood and found Malta to be an excellent alternative. I sailed with them before on a river cruise the year before and loved it. Although the ports of call were changed due to the conflict in Israel, we were very happy with the replacement ports of Cyprus and Malta.

We chose this cruise mainly for the itinerary (we hadn't been to Morocco), which was cancelled before we left and replaced with Palma de Majorca (our 5th time there). Our first cruise since 2012. Everything on Marina lived up to what we remember in terms of great and attentive service. there are always a few crew members who show indifference but the vast majority were wonderful. The measure of service is whether the service during the last 36 hours of a cruise was a good as the first 36. Oceania pretty much nailed it.
