We cruise a lot and travelled on the Holland America line before covid and it was fine. However this most recent trip was disappointing and an exercise in money-grabbing. The menu did not change the entire trip, that is to say French onion soup was the ONLY soup on offer for the duration - how difficult is it to make another type of soup? On the first day I asked for the herring but was told it ...
Because of Covid this cruise was cancelled 3 years for us, but the Celebrity Lift and Shift deal gave us the opportunity to sail this cruise with same benefits as booked in 2000.
Ship itself is nice, sails quiet and stable. Cabin is a bit outdated but still very comfortable. Bed/matress however was hard compared withn our last cruise with the Solstice and Eclipse. To be replaced? Cabin steward ...
Good points:
- Good selection of food in the buffet restaurant and at lunchtime in the Epernay restaurant.
- Some of the music in the bars - especially The Storytellers.
- The Martini bar and its staff - hugely entertaining and friendly.
- Tuscan Grill speciality restaurant food and service. Excellent and substantial dishes.
- The pool and jacuzzis.
- Our balcony cabin - ...
We wanted to escape our winter weather, and this was a desired return visit to a prior war zone for one of us. We also wanted to try a Celebrity cruise, to compare it to the others we have done.
Embarkation was chaotic, and we were initially herded to the wrong line, for people not needing Vietnam visas.
Our cabin had a good sized veranda, and an average sized room. We were dismayed to ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary and previous good reviews. Having read more recent negative reviews i am surprised and would disagree with them. We ate mainly in the included restaurants, mostly the Grand Epernay and the Main Buffet, food was excellent on all occasions, and we are fussy. In particular the steaks in the Grand Epernay were top notch. The main buffet had a great selection, and ...
Chose this cruise for the itinerary from Hong Kong to Bangkok via cities and remote islands in the Philippines, a brief call in Malaysian Borneo, and two nights in Ho Chi Minh City - fascinating to visit rapidly developing countries under different political systems. We enjoyed most of the included excursions but underestimated the sapping effect of the heat and humidity. For our convenience, we ...
We enjoyed our 14 cruise to Se Asia on the Silver Whisper. This was our 2nd cruise with Silver Sea . The ship is a bit tires and showing it’s 21+ years in service. We loved the itinerary Hong Kong, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and finishing in Thailand. The staff on board were excellent , especially our cruise director Moss. We never had to ask for anything ; there was always someone there to ...
We chose this ship mainly because of the itinerary. The cabin was designed well and of reasonable size with a walk in closet and a balcony. The food in all restaurants was superb varied and with reasonable wine offerings. The excursions were as advertised and well managed. The smaller number of passengers made the general feeling of very few passengers on board and lots of room on excursions. The ...
My wife and I chose this cruise as we had always wanted to try a luxury cruise line, and when we saw a package that would book-end the cruise with a preceding tour of China and a post-cruise tour of India it would cross three things off our bucket list.
So let's start with the positives. Our overall thoughts on this cruise and Silver Muse as a cruise ship are very positive. It is a ship of ...
My three positives and a negative because the world needs more positivity:
+ Stunning ship, well thought through with loads of areas to explore, read a book, and relax. We did two back-to-back cruises (for a total of 28 days) and never felt ship claustrophobia
+ Service-oriented crew that consistently showed how a simple smile can make a day
+ Little to no up charge pressure. Everything ...
