I wasn't sure quite what to expect my biggest worry was that I had paid all of this money and that by day 2 I would hate it or even worse be sea sick the entire time! But boy was I surprised!!! The scenery was beyond words, the staff was top notch everyone was so pleasant, as a matter of fact most of the crew knew my name by the end of the cruise, staff would see us in the hallways and ask where ...
Here are some random notes, primarily from this perspective: Our family of three (longtime married couple + now-teen son) sailed Celebrity eight times in five years between 2002 and 2007 - then no cruises at all for three years + two months - till Infinity to Alaska, 8/27/10-9/3/10, roundtrip from Seattle.
Our previous cruises: Three others to Alaska (Infinity in August 2003 from Vancouver, ...
QUICK SUMMARY: Inside Passage: August 13-20. We had a fantastic vacation, and loved the Infinity!
EMBARKATION: We left the hotel at 10:45, arrived at the dock before 11, walked right through the pre-boarding stuff in five minutes, and were onboard by 11:15. The rooms were ready around 1pm. Absolutely painless.
PASSENGERS: I was surprised by the number of kids (under 18) on the ship, especially ...
Leaving from Seattle was great because my husband and I left from Charlotte 2 days before sailing on July 30th in order to take in Mt. Rainier National Park and we are so happy that we did. Majestic scenery in the park at every turn. Be sure to drive all the way up to Paradise Inn. It was a couple of hours drive from the airport in our rental car, which we only kept for 24 hours. More than enough ...
Overall this was an excellent trip and I highly recommend the itinerary.
Embarkation/Disembarkation: No issues
Itinerary and Shore Excursions: Excellent
Ship Appearance: I know Celebrity Infinity is scheduled to be "Solsticized" in 2011 which is great to hear. The general appearance and layout of the ship is nice. For the most part the public areas are nice. Some modernizing is needed in the ...
The Ship
Food was mediocre, which was surprising as Celebrity is thought to be upscale from our usual cruise line of choice.
Boat is older and shows it's wear
Small craft, not much in the way of physical activities to do.
Wasted space in some venues cramped the passengers even tighter in common ares.
Not enough enclosed deck areas for an Alaska cruise.
The Itinerary
A cruise ...
We are 50 somethings and have visited Alaska four times; twice on our own (flying to Fairbanks and traveling by car as far south as Seward), and once with Holland America (similar itinerary). This was our 5th cruise and our 4th with Celebrity. We were traveling with 6 other family members.
We flew in a day early and booked a 4-star hotel through Hotwire. Upon arrival at Seatac, we took a cab to ...

Day 0: Seattle.
We enjoyed a day in Seattle before our cruise. Driving into Seattle, we stopped at Snoqualmie falls - it was worth the stop for us, as we enjoy nature.
In Seattle, we went to the Kerry Park Overlook - great views of Seattle and the bay!
We went ...
We sailed on the July 30th sailing from Seattle to Alaska. What a fabulous trip.
We arrived in Seattle by ferry at 9:45, town car to the pier. We were on the ship by 11:15. I was traveling with my husband on my Mom.
We had an ocean view stateroom on Plaza deck. The room worked out well for 3 and we really like our cabin steward, Palton.
We had select dining and loved waiter, Darsana, that we ...
When I started doing research on the Celebrity Infinity (In-side passage - Alaska), I was a little amazed at how different the reviews could be of the same sailings. Three days after leaving the ship, I now understand why there have been such differences. Attitude and perspective is at the center of the divide.
If you are discerning you will find the ship out of date and a little rusty. The food ...
