We were a family of nine and we chose this cruise because it fit into everyone's schedule. Next time we will not leave from Ft. Lauderdale. More than half the guests were seniors which meant that there weren't many things for children to do on board. The food was okay. I liked the food better on our first Royal Caribbean cruise. There weren't many dairy free dessert options. The staff, however, were pretty cool. I had a pretty nasty indecent with a sales associate in the Effy jewelry store on the ship and it wasn't addressed by management. Outside of that incident the staff on the Caribbean Princess were pretty good. The pizza spot, Slice, makes incredibly delicious pizza. The coffee shop/ice cream bar was good at delivering cones but it seemed like everyone assigned to the coffee bar was figuring it out. The ship seemed dated but clean. It was only my second cruise so perhaps all ships look dated. There was a sewage smell that we smelled often that was off putting nut I guess that is the price you pay on a ship. I probably won't cruise on Princess for a very long time because fo the racist incident I experienced and since there are other options but it was an experience. Read Less

We spent 3 nights in Fort Lauderdale at a beach hotel prior to the cruise, and on the morning of departure we took a quick taxi to Port Everglades. The terminal was very busy but the lineups moved quickly and check in was fast and efficient. Our room was ready when we boarded the ship around 1:00 PM. The Caribbean Princess has been modernized, and we noticed the newer rugs, new pictures in our stateroom, and newer look to the ship in general. There is a new splash pad zone on the upper deck for kids, with several lounge chairs (some with clamshell type covers) nearby. We went ashore in Princess Cays, Bahamas, which is a busy beach with lots of room to spread out. We booked a cabana for the day, and it was nice to have a spot to regroup, cool down, or just take a break either indoor with the ac or outside on the shaded lounge chairs. We also went ashore in St. Thomas and took a bus tour & beach break. In St. Maarten we took a similar tour but spent more time on a beach with an included lunch. The weather cooperated the entire week and it was sunny and hot each and every day. Overall, we enjoyed our cruise very much. Our room steward did a good job, the wait staff in the restaurant (Club Class Dining) were very attentive, the front desk and shop staff were also very friendly and helpful. The ship is easy to navigate, and we found using the aft elevators very handy because they were less busy as compared to the midship elevators. The pool areas were a bit crowded on sea days but there was often a few chairs available in which to sit. We didn’t eat in the Marketplace cafeteria more than a few times; the sit down dining rooms provided a table, wait service, and less of a rush so it was more relaxing for us to eat in those venues when we could. For breakfast we generally ordered room service - one of our favourite ways to start the day! Our room was well laid out and spacious, with two windows & close to the water with very little noise or movement from the ship. The location couldn’t be beat: close to the Piazza, front desk, shops, and Coral Dining Room. Overall, a great week on the Caribbean Princess! Read Less

We overall enjoyed our cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. Our two interior cabins were clean and well kept. (It would have been nice for Princess to choose a floorplan that sacrificed a bit of closet space in order to expand the size of the shower, though. At 6'1", my "wingspan" in the shower was much more important than having six superfluous feet of closet space in which to hang a handful of dressy clothes.) The food was amazing and we very much enjoyed the shows and activities offered on the ship. Our excursions were top notch. Our girls spent most of their onboard time in the teen room, and had a blast with the planned activities. However, we had major problems with the Medallion system from the moment of embarkation. For some reason, my daughters and I were issued Medallions, but my husband was issued a key card. I still have no idea why ... I did nothing unusual with his booking process. We were told at embarkation that his Medallion would be ready by dinnertime. At dinnertime, no Medallion. Then we were told that it would be ready first thing in the morning. In the morning, no Medallion. We grew increasingly frustrated as we fell into a pattern of checking in at the service desk every 6-8 hours to be repeatedly told that his Medallion was still being processed. At one point, he asked what would happen if one of our girls lost her Medallion; he was told that a new one would be issued immediately. When he asked why such service couldn't be granted for him, we discovered that the key-card and Medallion databases were entirely separate entities, and he would have to be "created" as a new passenger in order to receive a Medallion. This finally did occur; he received his Medallion ... halfway through the cruise. Once his Medallion was activated, both he and our older daughter were able to track all of us, but my younger daughter and I could not track him. Ever. In addition, for a period of 36 hours, our younger daughter's Medallion dropped off the system and she was un-trackable as she moved about the ship. She was unable to do anything without being accompanied by her sister, with a properly working Medallion, as that was the only way we could ensure that we were able to keep tabs on where she was. When we raised this issue at the service desk, the clerk logged in to his iPad and showed us where she was at that moment. "See? She's perfectly safe!" he told us. We walked him over to the nearest public kiosk and showed him that his information was useless to us, as we couldn't see it ourselves. We felt like we weren't being heard. Not being able to verify her safety was only part of the problem; the larger issue was a faulty tracking system, completely out of our control. I had a scary moment, once both girls' Medallions were back online, when I went to track them and discovered that they were on different floors. The younger one was on a floor which contained only private cabins. She had no business being on such a floor. I raced down to her tracking location to discover that she wasn't there. I climbed six flights of stairs in a panic to find my older daughter in the teen room and ask where her sister was; I found both of them sitting together. I walked to the closest kiosk and logged in; my younger girl, sitting 15 feet away from me, was still registering as being on a cabin-only floor six levels below. Her Medallion location only reset when she logged herself into the kiosk. The Medallion system definitely gives great benefits ... when it works. Obviously the system has a lot of kinks to be worked out. Read Less

It was a last minute vacation for my husband and I and our 5 kids (13,14,17,19 &20 yrs) The staff was great, friendly, helpful and fun! Loved the medallion and it’s apps! Very innovative and helpful if you aren’t regular cruisers. The only thing I wished is that I’d be able to track the kids under 18 in the other 2 state rooms since we had 3 rooms. But because of their age the app wouldn’t allow me to track them but we all have iPhones so we just texted. WiFi plan purchased workers really well, especially being in the middle of the ocean. Food was tasty and lots of options for the picky or for adventurous taste buds. Didn’t eat 1 thing I didn’t like. Plenty of areas to sit and relax, didn’t feel over crowded in any areas (obviously many people at pools on hot days, but there are multiple pools so it didn’t seem to bother anyone and didn’t seem over crowded). There’s about 4-5 smoking areas. Rooms were stayed on top of, very clean, service was great. The staff remembered your orders or likes almost immediately. Made for a very personal feeling. Entertainment was funny and there was always something going on somewhere. Princess cruises has it down pat all the way around. Looking into sailing with them again next summer. Embarking and disembarking was soooo quick and easy too! Read Less

I was told that Princess was on par with Celebrity which Ive been on Equinox twice, and traveling with friends, this seemed to work out best for their needs with 2 teenages. I will say, when we arrived at port, this was the quickest we ever boarded, and I thought this was going to be a great cruise... boy was I wrong! Our cabin was warm at best, with the thermostat as low as it could go. Our friends had one cabin down the corridor and you could feel the temperature drop 10 degrees half way to their cabin. Their cabin was nice and comfortable unlike ours. I shut the drapes and kept the balcony door closed to try to cool things down but to no avail. My friends aaid to say something. So we went to the customer service desk where they ssid they would check it out. The room steward kept asking if they came but I I never saw anyone or get any reply or notification. I called front desk to see if I could get some Ice as the refrigerator was warm. I was told it was more of a bottle chiller and not a fridge. I asked for Ice and they said to call the room steward, his number is on the desk. I told them it wasn't but he insisted it was. I told him the room steward said he was going to bring the card later when I had asked for ice, but neither had arrived. The front desk reluctantly stated they would send up some ice as I had medication to keep cold. Half an hour later still nothing, so I went to get some ice. The room steward sees me with the ice bucket and comes to grab it from me and says he will get it for me. Next day still hot, complained again, was told they came to room at it was within operational parameters. Thats when If I didn't know Princess was owned by Carninval, I would have known with that useless generic answer. But it gets better. I complain again, switch my cabin, my friends have air and I need some, the heat can trigger some bad headaches, but they have no other cabins. The person at the desk says she will try to find a fan! It made it only slightly less unbearable. Princess Cay. They turn off the water at 2pm and if you want to prevent heat stroke or dehydration, buy a bottle at the bar! Unbelievable! Back on board. We have not been able to enjoy the view or balcony as we are living in a cave. Drapes closed. Afraid to open the door to the balcony and let the heat in. Went and complained again, this time I asked what do I need to do to get off the ship in St Thomas and fly home and get a full refund! The man at customer service says He doesn't know but will find out. Next day I have hotel manager, the customer service manager who found us a fan, an officer from engineering I think and the guy from maintenance all in our cabin, suddenly they are able to drop the thermostat a couple of degrees! Meanwhile, it must be 90 in the elevators, it felt like 95 in the lobby to the elevators, and it was so humid in the elevator I asked another passenger if he was enjoying the portable sauna. Later in the cruise, the art show auctioneer said they have been working on the ac all week and it was the first time he held an auction in a sauna, yet everyone says the ac is working properly. It was getting hot all over the place. Took 4 days to find a server at dinner that served appropriately! Women first, then the teenagers, then the men. Went to specialty restaurant for more upscale dining, service lousy, no tablecloth, served men first, women last, never checked on things, when he said eggplant when placing a dish in front of my highly allergic wife, we all said wait, she's allergic to eggplant, and he says i never said eggplant, yet 4 people heard him say it as clear as day, and not once did he ask how everything was or if we would like more bread, and when the desert was suppose to have a frozen center yet 4 out of 6 of the deserts had a warm melted mess inside. It was just horrible. Thankfully we reserved the section with the waiter we found for the restbof the cruise except the last night when they refused to take the reservation. The other servers and the rest of the staff all seemed like we were interrupting them, bothering them, or when they asked if we wanted anything, it was as if they were angry when we said yes! There were very few examples of good service, the ice cream was ice milk and horrible, the ice cream in the dining room tasted like they took the ice milk from up too, mixed in some flavoring, then refroze it. Don't ask about the shows, as we never got to see one. It was probably because the kitchen was so slow to send out food that it was a good two and a half hours for us to have dinner. One day it was full and too hot to stand, the next show had the doors closed and a sign said full, the one day we got in early and made it to the theater, they had the doors closed and they said they had some technical difficulties but were doing a sound check and would let us in shortly. Well we stood for half an hour, then they let us in, then we sat for another 20 minutes before the lights went down and the cruise director comes out and says they had some technical difficulties with the stage, blamed it on the waves yet it was the smoothest sailing Ive ever been on, and says that the technical staff has been working on it but said there was no way to fix it and due to safety, they were replacing it with a last minute replacement by one of their performers and brings out the lounge singer to do a tribute to Stevie Wonder... banging on the keys something awful, it was horrendous. It would have been proper to inform us of the switch before we waited almost an hour for something put together in 45 minutes. We went to see the drag Queen show in the nightclub, those are usually funny and raunchy and a good time, this was just bad. He went to do a quick change and was on the second verse singing off to the side and struggling to get changed even with help. I asked slmebody which pool was open, he said none, eventually I found the one that was open. The entire cruise director staff seemed unorganized and even rude at times. The cruise director wasnt even sociable, it seemed like nobody really could care less. That waitor we found was surprised and in disbelief when we told him he was the only decent service we found on the ship, he almost cried. The food was jot very good everywhere we went, pizza was wait and get so so pizza, took forever to get items replaced when they ran out in the buffet, the hot stuff was cold, the cold stuff was luke warm, and the couldnt even cook the eggs correctly, and the guy running the omlets was too busy foing too many things and talking to coworkers to do things properly, took my pager and then went on to fo other things while I stood waiting, then wanted to know why I was standing there, and then When I said he needed my food, and gabe him the number from the pager, he handed it to me like I was a bother, yet he just forgot to give it to me, but he also couldnt be bothered to apologize at all. And if you do not cash out your bank at the casino, it doesnt go back on your account, you would lose it, so make sure you cash out your casino bank. After 11pm, nothing available except a small cafe with limited pre-made items and coffee for a fee, no activities except the nightclub. Tried to go to the stargazing, sorry, we dont have enough equipment, maybe next time. Next time not in a heated dungeon with horrible staff from the dark ages... people on the ship who have taken Princess before have said it was not like this before, but I dont think I will ever do another Princess cruise again. I guess taking my money to keep the princess in her jewels is all they do! I cant see why anyone would take a Princess cruise based on this experience. Read Less

Plus princess were so nice to us giving us freebies to make our celebration more special. I'll b bac(in the terminator voice) lol. The ocean now app didn't work for me, idk if it's bcause I didn't have internet but they said u didn't need it. It would have been great if it worked. The shore excursions were great, we bought them at the port cause the price was pretty darn good. One thing I didn't like at Princess Cays was that they had us pay for the clam shells bomber, jus plain wrong yep. Read Less

My husband and I decided to do a Caribbean cruise for our anniversary, and my son’s high school graduation. I was a little weary about sailing on a Princess Cruise because it seems to cater to an older crowd, and we had an 18 yr old, 16, and 11 yr old with us. Half the passengers were senior citizens, and the rest were families. All of my kids made friends on board and had a great time. The food was great, the weather was perfect, the islands were beautiful, the crew went out of there way to cater to everyone. There were plenty of lounge chairs, and rarely any lines. The newlywed game and Voice of the Ocean was great. The medallion system and WiFi was exceptional. Movies on deck were great. My kids can’t wait to do another cruise. I like that the atmosphere is low key, and laid back. A slide or two for the kids would be nice, but I would definitely Cruise Princess again. Princess Cays, St. Maarten (Maho beach) St. Thomas (excursion to Trunk Bay St. John’s USVI) Perfect. Getting on and off the ship was well organized too. Read Less

I had heard that the food and service were great The dining room staff was outstanding. Our waiter was Carlos and the Dining Room Captain was Frederick. My nine year old granddaughter asked for strawberry soup and Frederick had it delivered every single night within 5 minutes of being seated even though it was not on the menu. Carlos treated the 2 girls (9 and 6) as princesses. He would bring a chopped fruit cup immediately for the baby. Loved the trip so much I am going again next year and will request both Frederick and Carlos again. Carlos has been on this ship for 14 years. He danced the Macarena with the girls one night. Loved the beaches at all 3 stops in Eastern caribbean. Perfect weather and seas as flat as glass. Port locations in the perfect location from where the ship docked. Medallion class worked perfectly. Boarded the ship within 5 minutes at ll:30 a.m. Virtually walked right on. Read Less

The ship had just come out of a yard period in which changes were made to deck 16 & 17 to attract more family cruises. They also did some routine maintenance around the entire ship. Since we have cruised the Eastern Caribbean many times we only we only got off in St Thomas. The ship was in great condition and clean in everything we used. Below was my assessment of this cruise. 1) Service could have been better in the bars and Lido deck. 2) Food was very good. 3) Production shows were top notch. 4) Lounge entertainment was lacking especially having no piano player in Crooners. Heard from a Ship Officer that there were 1500 first time Princess cruisers on this cruise. I guess summer Caribbean cruises will be popular. My cabin D725, a mini-suite, was in the rear of the ship and we could feel pronounced vibrations coming the engines. Think I will stick with cabins more in midship area. If you sail on the Caribbean Princess and enjoy a quiet area to read try the Skywalker Lounge on Deck 19. Read Less

You can relax and enjoy your time and thete is something to do for all ages. The only way to vacation for me now will be cruising. Pools, casino, ocean view, great food, bingo, and night time entertainment all wrapped up in one. It is even better with the medallion, makes everything so easy. We chose our cabin after my husband researched the aft ones. The view could not be beat, as one can see almost all of the port or other islands. Embarkation/Disembarkation was worse than going through TSA at any airport hub. It totally should have taken a lot less than the 30 minutes, coming and going in Port Everglades. Our cabin did not disappoint, as it had lots of closet spaces and plenty of drawers. However, the bathroom could have used an extra sink and some shelves for toiletry storage. The bathtub, with its jets was a complete dream. So good for a soak and rest! Wished that I could have folded it up, and put in the suitcases! The shower was a good one, with a great showerhead that could be adjusted for different streams. The overall shower needed to have a different kind of door that sealed, as there was a stream of water that escaped out the bottom and flooded the bathroom! Dining did not disappoint...plenty of venues and choices. Whether your tastes run to steak, seafood or ice cream, it was all good. The wait staffs and managers were totally top notch!! We had one of our shore excursions cancel, due to nature, and the others were a complete surprise with the places we saw and areas we viewed! Would do it again in a heartbeat!! Read Less

I've been waiting 50 years to go on a cruise and I hate to say that I picked the wrong ship and the wrong cruise line. The size of our mini-suite was great and the beds were comfortable but the furniture was rather outdated and worn. The couch was a tired green with a few holes and the furniture on the balcony needed an upgrade. The food in the buffet was worse than Golden Corral and there was very little entertainment on the ship. The three sea days we were bored to tears and ended up watching movies in our room each night. I guess if you are 75 or older you might enjoy this cruise with nightly Bingo and knitting classes or playing cards on deck but my daughter and I were so disappointed because we had heard and seen videos from friends who have been on cruises and were told of all the deck parties and all the fun activities on the ships. We never saw any or maybe if we would have known that there was a LGBT convention we would have picked another cruise because there were tons of activities for them or if we had known that 90% of the passengers were over the age of 70, we would have picked another cruise. I wish I could say that the dining was at least good, but I can't. The table we had assigned to us for the whole cruise each night sat over one of the engines I guess, because the whole table and all of our chairs shook every night except one and that is because we were still docked in St. Thomas. There were several menu choices each night but the food was just ok. I had again heard stories about how wonderful the food is on a cruise and how you come back home with a few extra pounds and I can honestly say that I didn't. Our two wait staff that we had for the week were super nice though. I have to give them credit for that. Siti and Dadang were great. The service on deck and out by the pool area was not so great. If you wanted a drink while sun bathing you had to go and get it yourself because there was never anyone walking around asking if you wanted a drink. Also if you decided to grab a slice of pizza, which by the way was the best thing I ate all week and needless to say we ate sliced pizza every day, you could never find anyone to bring you a glass of water or iced tea. It would have been nice if they would have at least had some sort of beverage stations set up around the ship to get a drink without having to pay $10 for an alcoholic one. I believe half the trip I was dehydrated from lack of water. Oh and let me fore-warn you to NOT TAKE PART IN THE TEETH WHITENING in the LOTUS SPA. WHAT A RIP OFF. We got suckered into it because we were told upfront that the cost would be $129 each for teeth whitening that would last 2 to 3 years. Well, after the process was done, you then get told that for it to last 2 to 3 years you have to pay an additional $249. WOW. So the $129 that I just paid is only good for a few days! So I broke down and bought the additional packets that were $49 for 12 treatments, which I was told was only good for 1 week of whitening AND WHEN I GET MY CREDIT CARD PRINTOUT THE GUY TAKES IT UPON HIMSELF TO ADD A $39 TIP. WOW was all I could say. The only good part about the whole cruise was the ports we visited. That was what I was most looking forward to was seeing the beautiful blue waters and that did not disappoint. We enjoyed a nice bus tour of St. Thomas and we had a great time walking through all the shops and open markets of St. Maarten. I will say that come Saturday morning, the day we got back to Ft. Lauderdale, I was up at 5am and ready to get off the ship! At least if you carry your own luggage off, you can disembark at 7:30 instead of waiting until 8:30 or in some cases 9:30 depending on what floor you were on. If I ever decide to go on another cruise I will certainly do more homework of the ship and will probably chose Royal Caribbean for sure! Read Less

Took this cruise for the ship (we sailed 3 years ago before the refit) and for the ports to be visited. The ship is in nice shape although it seems to be missing some signage. In the forward stair well in particular, it is difficult to tell what deck you are on and which way is forward or aft without going into the hallways to the cabins. The buffet area has been redesigned and works so much better then the old design. Flows better, reduces/eliminates lines, fresher appearance. The cabin (inside on deck 9) was well maintained, very clean and in a good location for a good night's sleep. We were 3 people in a cabin that can hold 4, closet and storage was very adequate. Bedding was good, except the heavy/hot duvet which we had removed for a traditional blanket (don't know why they bother!) We dined in the Palm Dining room (traditional dining) as well as the buffet for all meals. Very pleased with the variety, quality and freshness of the food. Service in both areas was excellent (this ship has a great crew that is very customer focused with a great attitude). Entertainment on this cruise was probably the best I've seen on a cruise ship in the last 10-15 years. Production shows were great as was the comic and the magician. We were scheduled to visit Princess Cay for the first port, but the weather would not be acceptable for tender transfer, so the port was skipped and we docked in St. Thomas 5 hours early, staying from 7am to 10pm. Went to Megan's Bay to swim and snorkel (took local transfer for $8 each, each way). Good facilities at the beach, restrooms, showers, food and beverage and the beach and water are beautiful. Next stop was St. Maarten, just a little shopping and light sight-seeing. Again, great beaches. Port is functional but still recovering from last years hurricanes, so not everything is open yet. This cruise had a total of 3 sea days, 1 going down, two coming back. All in all, a great cruise, meeting our expectations in every regard. Embarkation from Ft. Lauderdale took about 15 minutes, debarkation went very well also, very well organized. As with any cruise there are some people that don't know or don't care about rules, directions and common courtesy that make some experiences annoying, to say the least. We would certainly sail on this ship again (great crew) when the opportunity comes about. Read Less

You can tell its not a "new" ship even though there was a refurb completed last year -- I liked the fact that there are a lot of pool options to choose from,,, I think 6 overall... Piazza was nice, condensed across 4 levels... was not a lot going on, but people seemed to congregate in that area. The casino was nice, a few tables for each game and a decent amount of machines... never seemed to be too crowded. Dining was just ok. The buffet breakfast was not impressive at all. Limited items, not much to choose from and never new items... was hoping that each day maybe we would get a new appealing selection... but no. I guess I am used to the Royal Princess level of food and selection... not here. The wait on an omelet was 15-20 minutes... every day you went. Just not impressed. The dining room was definitely better, although not up to the Royal Princess level of selection or quality, but not bad. If you go on this ship, definitely pay for the Crown Grill and Sabatini's, those were the best meals we had that covered 3 of our nights. Entertainment / Activities - Minimal. Didnt hear good things about the entertainment, so never went out of my way to see anything. Overall, did not seem to be a lot of organized activities. I have only sailed RCL and Princess, so I have minimal perspective, but Princess is miles behind RCL when it comes to engaging with the passengers and getting them involved in things. Maybe its just the style of the line.... Would have liked more engagement from the staff there. Service was good.. my cabin steward was very good, waiters and staff were very good. Overall, definely a lack of engagement across the ship though. Didnt feel like everyone was really giving their all. My wife agreed with that... you could tell as soon as we were on-board that something was off with the staff. Not a lot of smiles, hello's, offers to assist. Overall was an ok cruise. Has me thinking I may want to try Celebrity to see how they stack up. Was throughly impressed by Princess on my last 2 cruises (both on Royal Princess), so not sure which is the real Princess.... This cruise was a surprise birthday present for me! I had been complaining about how we couldn't afford a cruise this year (we had to buy a lovely roof instead…) and my wonderful parents stepped up and made it possible! My parents are chronic cruisers who go 5-6 times a year - sometimes more (this year they’ll do 10!). They are the ones responsible for getting my family addicted as well! This cruise was selected with relaxation in mind. With three ports and four sea days, it's the perfect way to unwind and let someone else worry about making us happy - and did Princess pull through for us! With kids left behind grumbling about not going, my husband and I had our first vacation alone together in 10 years. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. We had a balcony next to my parents and spent many hours reading and watching my favorite, mesmerizing reality show "Ocean Waves" on that balcony. I spent so many hours I received a nice sunburn sitting in the shade! Over all the ship was on good condition, we could definitely tell what had been refreshed and what still needed to be refreshed. The beds are sumptuously soft. The bathroom was clean, but definitely dated. Princess is trying to get up to snuff with technology. They have installed new TV's with current on-demand movies. Most of the time it worked – when it didn't, I figured out that if you rebooted the TV, it would reset and work fine. They also offer on board Wi-Fi which was spotty at best. They are still working out the kinks. While frustrating to passengers, I understand the problems with tech upgrades. Many people complained about not being able to connect to work (how very sad – work? On a vacation?). Once they get this nailed, it’ll be great to be able to message on board companions freely. The service was outstanding. Our room attendant, Allen was the happiest hard worker I've ever met. Every request was met with ninja efficiency. Every morning (and I am an early riser) his smiling face was the first I would see. His personality was infectious and utterly charming. He should be a game show host… Our wait staff was great as well. We had traditional dining where Richard and Alexander took great care of us. My parents are used to getting things “just so” and they accommodated their every whim. Our water glasses were never empty (my pet peeve) and their recommendations where never wrong. For breakfast my parents knew Michael in the main dining room from previous cruises and requested him every morning. He too took care of their “just so” requests along with his team mate Somsak. Again smiling, happy workers! Most of the bar tenders were ok. We found (and this is an important person to find on every cruise!) a great bartender, Topher, who made the best long island tea. Not too much sweet/sour or too much cola…just right. He was the first to learn our names and what we liked. We went out of our way to get our drinks from him – he tended up at the Tradewinds bar on deck 16. He also made some great suggestions on other drinks that we tried. The only “excursion” we did was to reserve the clam shell on Princess Cays. For my mom it was essential, for the rest of us, well, I spend more time in the beautiful water, bobbing like an apple. We went ashore in St Thomas and took a shuttle to Coki Beach for the best snorkeling ever (to date)! It was like floating in an aquarium. The fish are used to being fed biscuits so they are abundant. For more beauty, float around the rocks…such variety of colorful fish and coral! In St. Maartin we took a water taxi to Great Bay Beach and again did the bobbing apple routine. It was marvelous! The entertainment was pretty good too! We had the comedian Ronndell Smith on 2 nights – he is hilarious! I wished his set was longer. There was a great singer (eek! Can’t remember his name at present!). He energetically sang everything from Ray Charles to Michael Jackson. Most surprising, as I didn’t expect to enjoy it, was the production of Bravo! The show is touted as mixing opera with pop with the grace of ballroom. It delivered outstandingly. The opera pieces were easily recognizable, as were the pop selections – but the voices were amazing – stunning really. I’m getting goosebumps just remembering! It was phenomenal, beautiful and worth the price of admission anywhere. I watched The Black Panther, Thor, Ragnarok and Jumanji for Movies Under that Stars. It was nice! Attendants came around with popcorn that was better than AMC’s. Those movies would show up in on-demand the next day. The food in the main dining room was very good. I'm not picky, but my parents are and they were very happy with the food. The buffet is everything you expect a buffet to be. My husband prefers the buffet saying he likes all the different selections and he can eat whenever he wants. He always joined us for dinner and enjoyed that as well. I was very disappointed in the Salty Dog Grill. My burger was near cold as were the fries. Oh well, can’t be perfect at everything! The pizza was OK, I liked the Stromboli – it made for a small, quick, late night snack. We were treated to the Crown Grill by our travel agent. It was excellent. Husband had the filet and lobster tail (raved about it and he is a steak snob), my mom had the lamb chops (made yummy noises the whole time eating) and dad and I had perfectly cooked Chilean Sea Bass - ohhh such delicious bliss! The on board shopping seemed limited. The high-end nature of it turned me off. I’d rather have more souvenir type choices than department store selections. Do people really buy that much clothing on board? I love browsing jewelry I can’t afford though…and there was plenty of that. Overall, it was a fantastic cruise. Princess has always done an excellent job in my opinion. We hated to leave – but off to work so we can afford the next cruise…and the cruise after that! Read Less

This was my families third cruise. I would not recommend this ship at all. The ship had a constant vibration at all times which made it hard to sleep at night. The food in the dining room did not taste good and there was not much variety on the menu each night. On past cruises we have been on the service in the dining room was normally excellent, on this cruise we waited for quite a while on our food and had to ask for drink refills. In order to have good food you had to go to one of the restaurants with the cover charge. I was also disappointed in the lack of entertainment while at sea on sea days. The majority of the entertainment was trying to buy something. We were also supposed to have four ports of call and one of our ports was cancelled before the cruise began without any explanation. First off let me say that we have done 25+ cruises and most of them have been on Princess. We took this cruise as a extended family cruise with one toddler at age three. 2 adults in their 30's and 4 adults in their 50's. The ship was recently renovated and it showed in some areas such as the buffet. Both of the specialty resturants located with in the buffet were used at breakfast and lunch as part of the entire buffet and this made could sense and flow but you really needed to walk through the entire area to see what is being offered. Don't miss the make your own fresh omelet station for breakfast but skip the ramen station at lunch as it was horrendous. Dinners in the MDR were are good and they really catered to our toddler and was much appreciated. We did Steamers specialty one night and if you stick to the seafood pots they were very good. Adding on a lobster tail and king crab for an extra 10 was very good here but a waste of money in Crown Grill. The pizza is now called slice but they still provide the great pizza along with other pizza type specialties every day. The grill is now the Salty Dog and provides the standard dogs and burgers as well as street tacos and an upsell specialty burger. The entertainment was really lacking on this cruise. The show Bravo was excellent but the others were just so so. The biggest issue is the venues that had other entertainment available were not able to accommodate all the passengers that wanted to partake. The islands were the standard Caribbean stops and most are coming back from hurricane issues but still have lots of areas that are still in need of recovery. The lay out of the ship was our biggest disappointment. Some elevators did not go to all the floors and to get to the traditional dining room you had to either take a specific elevator get to deck 7 and then walk down the stairs. The cabin was what we expected as we have had many mini suites and it was very comfortable and the new beds make a difference. The air conditioner did not work very well at all and if you needed a very cool room you were out of luck. The biggest asset this ship had was its crew. They were always smiling and asking if we needed anything. Did not have to wait for a drink waiter in any venue. Hubby said the gym was not big enough for the size of the ship and the amount of passengers. Read Less

The wife and I sailed on the May 26-June 2 2018 Eastern Caribbean and had a very nice, relaxing cruise/vacation. We are both in our mid-50's with zero children (but now a 1 year old puppy). This was cruise #40 for me, #16 on Princess (our first as Elite) and our 7th on the Caribbean Princess. We last sailed Princess July, 2014 (on the Caribbean Princess) and was excited to return to princess. Since that July trip we did 7 other cruises with 6 on Celebrity (all on various S Class ships) and one on HAL Westerdam over Christmas 2017. The ship I thought looked good, especially for a 14 year old ship and I especially liked the addityiopn of Cofferr & Cones and the remodeled buffet area along with Planks BBQ (did not eat at dinner but did have lunch & breakfast) and Steamers Seafood (did eat dinner, thought it was great at a very reasonable price). We also really enjoyed the updated television with the on-demand programing which had a very wide variety of free, recent movies and some television shows both classics (Cheers, Frasier, Love Boat) and various other types. The crew was great, very friendly and helpful. The only negative was the stateroom and bathroom (bed was great). After being on the Celebrity ships in various balcony cabins and the Westerdam in a Signature Suite the Caribbean Princess cabin, while cozy, has a tiny bathroom with the clingy shower curtain. No biggie but the standard balcony cabins are much nicer, in my opinion or the Celebrity ships (bether balconyn furniture also). Finally, this was our first sailing as Elite on princess and without a doubt the benefits are better for us than the Elite benefits on Celebrity. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted my Granddaughter to be off of school, which she was for the entire "Thanksgiving week". Overall we had a nice time and the weather was nice. We had been to all three ports before (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) but we pleased by the growth of the Bonaire port. Much more shopping and shore excursions this cruise. From the embarkation, we felt that this was maybe a "training cruise" Nobody appeared to know what their counterpart was doing. We were told to line up in one place, only to be told to move somewhere else by another. The disorganization continued on the ship. We don't require much from our Room Steward, but one thing we do insist on is ICE in the ice bucket. When we arrived there wasn't any, we asked our Room Steward and he said "is it OK if I get it to you after my break?" Knowing my wife worked in the service industry for over 20 years, I looked him in the eye and shook my head... he looked at me, saw the shocked face of my wife and said.... "I'll be right back with Ice", which he was. He appeared to be new, he did not appear to have the experience to anticipate needs like most Princess Room Stewards do. I will say, he was a quick study, once asked, he made sure that that task was done correctly for the remainder of the cruise. The ship was clean, and the food was EXCELLENT, possibly the best food in our over 15 cruises with Princess. I love days at sea, and with 3 days on the way out and 2 days back, I greatly enjoyed that aspect of the cruise. All in all, a very nice and highly recommended cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the destinations that it was going to. We stopped at Grand Turk, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and Bermuda. The destinations were beautiful, the boat was beautiful and the staff was wonderful. We have been on two other cruise lines and would recommend Princess over our other two experiences. We went on our Honeymoon and were treated very well. The Excursions that they offer are great, our favorite was the snorkeling in Grand Turk as well as the bus tours in Puerto Rico. We would love to go on another Princess Cruise to experience other locations and their other boats. They had entertaining themed parties and the live band played great music. The food and room service was also very good. I had notified them that this was our honeymoon and they surprised us with balloons as well as chocolate covered strawberries. We booked the March 6, 2016 Eastern Caribbean cruise to accommodate a family member's vacation. We flew to Houston one day before and settled in a hotel near Clear Lake, 15 minutes away from the Houston Bayport Cruise Terminal. We took a taxi to the terminal and were onboard in 15 minutes after arriving at the terminal. There were lots of staff working and boarding was very efficient. The ship is a bit worn as some of the elevator panels had chipped paint. Once onboard, we received a letter in our cabin from the Captain informing us that due to a diesel generator problem, the ship was not able to travel at full speed. Adding to the fact that we will lose one hour for Daylight Saving Time on the last day of the cruise, Princess decided to cancel the call to Princess Cays and go to Nassau instead. This was quite a disappointment since we really wanted to spend some time at Princess Cays to enjoy the water sports activities. After one sea day, we arrived at the port of Key West and everyone was ready to stretch our legs. Unfortunately the Captain came on the speaker to inform us that due to high winds (>30 knots), that between the harbour pilot and him, they decided that it was not safe for the ship to dock and the ship would skip Key West. So we spent another sea day doing nothing. Then we got to Freeport, Grand Bahamas, and spent the time on shore shopping. it was sunny but the wind was too strong and the waves too rough to safely enjoy the beaches. Then after another night at sea, we arrived at Nassau, capital of Bahamas. Although it was sunny and hot, the wind was howling and it was not typical Caribbean beach weather. We received another letter from the Captain in the evening apologizing for the disappointment of the cruise due to various factors and offered each passenger $50 ship board credit and 25 % future cruise credit to be booked by March 31, 2017. It was a nice gesture to show that Princess cared about our disappointment. Given all the unexpected events, we had a lot of time onboard to eat, take in the entertainment and shop. We chose fixed time dining in the Palm Dining room and our waiter, Marius from Romania, and assistant waiter, Ben from Philippines, worked very hard to make our dining experience memorable. Along with headwaiter, Michael from Italy, they made the dining experience the highlight of this cruise. As with usual Princess practice, there was a different theme every night. The Italian dinner was the best of the meals and the lobster night was made into a surf and turf night. We did not find a need to pay to go to the specialty restaurants as the service and food quality were already very satisfying. The entertainment was also worthy of commendation since Princess put on two production shows with their four singers, nine dancers and the band. They also invited a guest soprano, Jennifer Fair, who added a lot of volume to the shows. She also gave a solo performance on the last night of the cruise. There was also the Entertainer of the Year competition with a vocalist, a magician and a comedian performing multiple shows throughout the cruise and passengers got to vote for the top entertainer. These three were the top attractions in the Princes fleet in 2015 and of course their performances were all very enjoyable. The other surprise was the jewellery shopping onboard. We normally do not buy jewellery onboard as we did not know the value. For this ship, Effy has taken over the jewellery shop and they sent their "ambassador" Zoran to introduce the jewellery pieces. He was a most dynamic fellow and gave at least two talks everyday in the Effy Shop about the various precious stones. He got a few Effy collectors to act as models and appealed to our greed by holding raffle draws at each talk. Other notable entertainment included Bert Stratton, the pianist/ vocalist, performing in the Crooners Bar. The nightly crowd got so big that Princess moved him to the larger Explorers Lounge on the last two nights. He really knew how to entertain the crowd and got everyone participating in the singing. The ship was always busy with the usual Princess band, violin duet, body balancing pair, bingo and art auction. Even though we travelled on a Princess ship in December 2013, we found that the activities were very enjoyable. Disembarkation was also surprisingly smooth. On the second night of the cruise, we were asked what time we wanted to disembark. As I booked a private shuttle to the Bush International Airport, I requested 8:30 a.m. On the last night I was assigned 8:20 a.m. disembarkation. The terminal building was large enough that disembarking passengers did not have to wait too long to get through Immigration and Customs. It took one hour on the freeway to get to IAH. Although it was not a cruise that we expected (only getting one of the original three ports of call), all in all we found it very enjoyable. The staff was Princess' biggest asset. Read Less

Let me start by saying that we have always loved sailing with Princess.....until this cruise. We normally book a mini-suite but this time we decided to splurge and go for a full suite which was beautiful and was really everything we hoped it would be. Our cabin steward was outstanding from beginning to end. However, on the fourth night (we did a back to back Western/Eastern Caribbean 9 day cruise) the Captain made the announcement that there had been some cases of Noro-virus reported and proceeded to give instructions on how we could best protect ourselves. Of course, by the next night my husband was sick. I realize these things can happen and we have been very fortunate that it hasn't happened before. BUT, the distressing part is the treatment that we received (or the lack of is more like it) after he became ill. He became slightly ill around 11:30 pm and we honestly thought his dinner had just upset his stomach so we called the medical center the next morning. Well, the nurse spent a full five minutes yelling about why we waited to call....I finally had to break in and ask what we needed to do. I had to go down to the MC and get his medication and that was his treatment. He never saw a doctor or a nurse. He was confined to the room (which we fully understood). Shortly they came to decontaminate our room, take our towels and the clothing that he was wearing. After that we got NO clean towels, no fresh soap and no ice for almost two days. Finally, our regular steward contacted the right people and got them to bring these things to us. I also had to ask them to change our bedding. It took almost three days before we got consistent service to our room again. Then there was the issue of food for my husband....bear in mind that he has a stomach virus so he can't eat sandwiches or pizza, etc. We were given a sheet stating that there was an extensive menu for us from room service. When I called room service I was told that we had to order from the regular room service menu which offered nothing he could eat. I had to go to the buffet to get jello or soup or anything else he could eat and bring it back down, When I asked for a tray in the buffet to keep from spilling everything in the elevator, I was told they didn't have trays and I would have to call room service. They offered no help of any kind. Needless to say, I was not happy! Well, after the misery resulting from my husbands bout with the virus, on the day we get back into port, I wake up with the virus. We totally missed the last four days of our cruise and It was one miserable trip home. We will not be sailing on the Caribbean Princess again.   Read Less
