| Princess to Sail Antarctica |
Antarctica as cruise growth destination? The seventh continent gets a bit of a tourist boost as Princess announces that Royal Princess, its exotic pathfinder ship, will offer the line’s first itineraries to Antarctica.
The one-time opportunity is part of a 24-day South Atlantic/Antarctica/South America itinerary between Cape Town and Santiago that sails December 19 (2003). Otherwise, mass market cruising offers only a handful of opportunities for what is perhaps the most exotic of all voyages. These include Holland America, which typically offers one Antarctica cruise a year (this season on Ryndam on January 24, 2003) and Orient Lines’ Marco Polo, which has the most variety with five different voyages spanning the prime Antarctica sailing season of December - January. | |
