Further fleshing out the options on Alaska cruise tours, Princess has opened its newest “wilderness lodge.” The Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge, custom-designed by the cruise line, has 85 rooms and sits on the edge of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. The park, known for its large number of glaciers -- and 16,000 ft. mountain peaks -- is the largest in Alaska and yet isn’t as well known as Denali and Glacier Bay so the Copper River locale will be of particular interest to returning Alaska cruisers.
Features of the lodge itself include a huge “great-room” style lobby area, complete with stone fireplace and gorgeous outdoor views, and the Two Rivers Restaurant, which specializes in Alaskan regional cuisine. Travelers can include the lodge in Princess’ land-sea program; there are 11 available Copper River tour options.
