| Disney May Add Ship |
Is Disney Cruise Line spawning a sibling? Could be, says DCL’s Mark
Jaronski, who notes that the line has formed a design team -- consisting of
cruise executives and Walt Disney Imagineers -- to explore the possibility
of adding a third ship to the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder fleet. They
also have “begun formal discussions” with European shipyards though the
talks are less about contract negotiations than they are about design
features and deployment possibilities.
Still, any possible expansion plan remains a pie-in-the-sky endeavor for
now; Jaronski says the team plans to investigate options for at least a year
before making a decision about whether to go forward -- or remain a two-ship
line. “Just because we’ve formed a design team does not necessarily mean we
are building a ship at this time,” he says.
In other Disney Cruise Line news, the line is planning to launch a “kids fly
free” program during the low-season winter cruise period that falls between
New Year’s and Spring Break. Details will follow later this week. | |
