| Emerald Princess Sets Sail on Inaugural Voyage |
Princess Cruises' 113,000-ton, 3,080-passenger Emerald Princess set sail from Civitavecchia today with its first passengers for an inaugural Greek Isles voyage.
However, the ship's official christening ceremony isn't until next month. Why the wait? The ship will actually be christened and named alongside another new-to-Princess vessel -- Royal Princess -- in a unique joint ceremony in Greece's Santorini. The ceremony takes place on May 12 (so stay tuned!).
The inaugural itinerary to Venice includes calls at Naples/Capri, Santorini, Rhodes, Kusadasi, Mykonos, Piraeus, Katakolon, Corfu and Dubrovnik. Emerald Princess will continue to sail Mediterranean itineraries before repositioning to Ft. Lauderdale in October for a series of Caribbean cruises.
