Celebrity Names Third "Celestial" Ship

January 9, 2007
Celebrity Cruises has announced the name of its third Solstice-class ship: Celebrity Eclipse. The 118,000-ton, 2,850-passenger new-build will bring Celebrity's fleet total to 13.

Like its siblings Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox (launching in 2008 and 2009 respectively), Celebrity Eclipse will feature larger standard staterooms, 90 percent of which will be outsides; 85 percent of all staterooms will be outfitted with verandahs. Though concrete details have yet to be announced, all three ships in the Solstice family will feature an "exceptional range of guest-inspired amenities and services," according to a company statement.

Celebrity Eclipse will be built at Meyer Werft, a shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, and is scheduled for delivery in 2010.
