Commodore Update

April 3, 2001
It feels like deja vu all over again...but it’s now official: “Commodore Cruise Lines has ceased operations.” The announcement, made by Tampa-based Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, a law firm appointed to handle claims issues, says “while it has yet to be determined as to what extent Commodore will be able to meet its obligations, based on our experience and knowledge, we encourage any passenger who paid for their water transportation by means of a credit card to immediately request the card issuer to cancel any charges relating to any of the canceled cruises.”

We assume everyone who falls in that category has already done so...but folks who paid by check now should contact Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP to request a claim form. They can be reached at 800-677-7661 ext. 2202; however the firm’s recording says it will take them ten days to set up the process. They also say that passengers who booked through travel agents need not call; they will receive claims forms from their agents in about two weeks.
