On this cruise I had organised a Meet & Greet and 84 participants had agreed to attend, but some had other special places to be and we ended up with 76 in total . . as far as I was concerned that was a great turn-out. I sent out invitations to the Captain, Cruise Director and other Senior Staff and all attended and spoke to the group. We arranged a Cabin Crawl to be done on the next day which was the first sea day and thanks to all you volunteered their cabins we were able to visit all different types of cabins . . . Suites, Mini-suites, Balconies, Inside, aft and forward . . . Thank you everybody. Now the review: Embarkation . . . After arriving at Sydney Airport from Port Macquarie we were escorted to a waiting Princess transfer bus that took us straight down to the Embarkation Wharf at Circular Quay and it was our first full sighting of the Majestic Princess. Boy what a ship . . . huge. We were directed to the Priority Boarding line (we are Elite Passengers) and soon were heading for the Registration Desk to get our cruise cards. It was at this point that we struck a little problem. Eileen received her card with no problem but apparently they had lost mine, so after searching everywhere they issued me with a temporary cruise card that would get me on board but not to the cabin area. Once on board I was stopped by Security and told to wait until the Purser’s Desk could check and print out another cruise card for me as their computer terminal had gone down. After three-quarters of an hour and very much apologising from the crew and ship’s officers, I eventually got my card and was allowed to proceed to my cabin where Eileen was already waiting for me. We had a Balcony Cabin on Port Side Aft and it was very nice and as expected was tidy, very clean and fresh. I checked for our little “Freebees” that Elite Passengers get and found that they were all in their right places and it looked like we were ready to sail. By the way we were celebrating our 59th Wedding Anniversary and my Birthday on board this cruise. The Ship . . . The ship can carry 3560 Passengers with a crew of 1345. There are 36 Suites, 306 Mini Suites, 360 Deluxe Balcony Cabins, 732 Balcony Cabins and 342 Inside Cabins. Please note there are no Ocean View cabins on this ship. There are 20 Decks and the ship has 2 gigantic anchors. The ship is propelled by 2 huge propellers. The ship was launched in 2017 . . . The Captain was Captain Dino Sagani. After Two Sea Day we started at our Ports of Call . . . The night before the first port of call, which was Noumea, we went to the Crown Grill, a Speciality Restaurant on board, and had a great evening. The food was excellent. Service was great. Our first port of call was Noumea. Noumea is a perfect combination of South Pacific hospitality and European elegance. Although we had been here before we decided to do an excursion and decided on the Noumea Sights and Anse Vata Beach Break. In our opinion not worth the money and quite disappointed in the excursion. This excursion went for 4 hours. The next port of call was Mystery Island. Apparently this Island is uninhabited and the islanderss who live on adjoining islands come across to Mystery Island to set up stalls only when the ship are expected. Went ashore and walked around the tiny island, had a look at the airstrip that the American Forces made and used in World War II. I think this airfield could still be used today. Got sand in our toes and had a refreshing time. The weather has been great for the entire voyage so far. Sea Day today so went to the usual Trivia, then to the Enrichment Programme which was about “The Golden Age of Pirates”, did other miscellaneous things around the ship but after dinner we went to the Princess Theatre show which was The Princess Entertainer of Year winner Nathan Foley . . . wasn’t too bad but the next show in the Vista Lounge was very good and entertaining and that was the Marriage Match Gameshow. Suva today, 21st September and my Birthday. I was 21 again and I felt like 25. Did not take a ship’s excursions as we have been here many times before and we decided to just hop on the free shuttle and walk around the shopping area. Some things had changed but not many and the city was still quite dusty, noisy and full of people hurrying from place to place. Headed back to the ship for lunch and then to the Vista Lounge for the movie “The Death of Stalin”, which was a disaster and we walked out just in time to get to the start of Afternoon Trivia. At this point I would like to mention our Trivia Team . . . Karryl and Warren, Terry and Bernadette and Eileen & John. We didn’t win any major prizes but we had fun. We had bookings at Harmony Restaurant as a treat for my Birthday and it was fantastic. The food was just so plentiful that we could not eat it all. The staff were excellent and the atmosphere was very, very Chinese. Highly recommend. Caught a bit of the “Mercury Rising” (Freddie Mercury) show but it was completely full up so decided not to wait till the late show and did other things about the ship . . . cocktails, etc. and watched the goings on in the Piazza. Lautoka The forecast for today was around the 27c and we had an excursion to the “Land of the Giants” and the Orchids that grow near this spot. The gardens were very lovely and we walked throughout the circular pathways and the orchid collection. Some of the orchids were amazing and after hearing about the “Black Orchid” we were intrigued to see where it was. Well we asked and it was pointed out us but it was a surprise . . . it was a white orchid with very small black flowers right in the centre of the flower. We were looking for a complete black orchid. After the excursion we went back to the ship for Afternoon Trivia!!!! Tonight was the “Hot Latin Nights Deck Party”. Another Sea Day today and tomorrow we arrive at Lifou Lifou First of all, the island looks different – less pine trees, higher cliffs. Secondly, there are no expensive resorts awaiting you, hardly any tourists are staying overnight (although you can, if you want to, stay overnight in basic, more traditional accommodation). People on Lifou Island go by their everyday business, and on days that a cruise ship arrives they pack their traditional clothes, their home cooked meals and their imported cheap souvenirs and welcome the day guests at the tender boat pier near Easo. Once the cruise ship departs, life returns back to its normal, quiet self until the next influx of 1,000 or so tourists arrive for one day only. Most people in Lifou live in modest houses these days, however, some of them still have a traditional hut in their yard which is sometimes open for visitors. if you want to be able to wade into the water safely, consider using reef shoes or other shoes that you can use in the water. Back to the ship for that famous game . . . Trivia. That was after we attempted to watch a movie in the Vista Lounge called “The Female Brain” . . . another terrible movie. The next two days were Sea Days . . . With all the activities that are on board we started off with the “Paper Plane Competition” then we went to morning Trivia followed later on to the “Explorers - Mapping Australia’s Coastline Enrichment Programme”. Then later in the afternoon we went to see the “Scrap Heap Boat Building Finals” which were done in windy conditions in the main pool area, then guess where to . . . Trivia. After dinner we attended one of the best show we have seen and that was “Fiere”. What a show, the costumes, the sets, the singing, everything was as you would expect from a full Broadway/Vegas show. After this show we went to the Simon McKinney Show which was a mixture of comedy and voice impressions. Very good. I must mention at this point that we did see another show earlier in the cruise, “Fantastic Journey”. It was really good, colourful, and we recommend it. Our last day at sea and the day before arriving back in Australia and apart from going to Trivia we went to the Enrichment Presentation which was “Famous Shipwrecks of the Australian Coast” . . . very interesting. We then went and saw the final of the Egg Drop Comp and surprisingly not one egg was broken when dropped from 3 decks above. Back to our cabins and we had to start packing so that before dinner we could put out our bags so they could be collected for disembarkation tomorrow. Disembarkation . . . This sad episode of the cruise went extremely well and we were off the ship within the hour after having our numbers called and we then met up with the transfer bus to take us to the airport. Our cruise was over. It was a great cruise and we met many nice people. We had a great turn-out for the Meet & Greet that was organised and Princess put on a great venue for us the Hollywood Conservatory. The exclusive Lounge set aside for the Elite, Suite and Platinum passengers was well attended and the pre-dinner complimentary hors d’oeuvres were excellent, changing every night. Last but not least on the two Sundays whilst on the ship we attended Interdenominational Church Services which were conducted by our Cruise Director, Andrew Kadillac. Thank you Andrew for a job well done. We would highly recommend cruising on this magnificent ship . . . The Majestic Princess. Read Less

Sailing date coincided with birthday. We cruise every two years and found this cruise to Noumea and Fiji fitted in with our holiday plans. lovely new and very large ship expertly crewed and managed. we enjoyed all the new features such as the Hollywood Pool, Spa and Conservatory. The speciality restaurants, Harmony and Grill were quite good but the French restaurant La Mer was a disappointment. The food in the Any Time dinning restaurants was OK but only a little above average. The Atrium is a stand out feature in this vessel. Overall, the entertainment in the Theatre was of a high standard but the sound was cranked up too high and tended to turn good music and singing into noise. Platinum membership provides excellent embarkation and disembarkation and is a plus on such a large ship carrying 3500 passengers. The manoeuvrabilty of this large ship is amazing especially berthing at Sydney's International Terminal. The embarkation at Sydney was a breeze - on the ship within 40 minutes. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Okay so it is a new ship, however the layout of our internal room (Cabin C334) in queen bed formation was so spacious, we couldn't believe it! The outfitting of the hanging space, storage etc., was very cleverly done - I had empty draws and shelves - when has that ever happened before????. Okay so the bathroom was "compact", but hey we weren't sleeping in there so we were completely satisfied with the layout, storage and comfort. Found the in-room TV selections more extensive than previous cruises. Couldn't fault the stateroom, the staff or the room service. We had anytime dining and with gluten intolerance to be taken into account, we weren't sure how we would go - well we were overwhelmed by the assistance, care and concern that we were shown by the head waiter and staff. The Chef also assisted. It was great. Plus even in the buffet there were gluten free options (okay they are probably not made in a fully gluten free environment, however they were suitable for us). The shops on board were way too "up market" for our taste - it would have been nice to see some more mid range stores, or the "sales" being more realistic as there are more and more middle class people choosing to cruise and it doesn't appear that Princess is catering to us. Lets be realistic - duty free isn't what it used to be! Wasn't thrilled by the excursions - main complaint was the ones that we booked and paid for months prior, were either cancelled or we were bumped to a time that didn't suit - not impressed. Additionally the categorising of the activity level was way out on most of the tours that we did take - many times there were people that were on the tour thinking that it was only moderate, when it should have been strenuous. Or vice versa - a moderate tour was a walk in the park - hopefully Princess will sort this out as it did cause a lot of issues with the older participants that should not have been on some of the tours, which in turn reduced our enjoyment by having to worry / assist these ones. The Captain was rather amusing many times when he was updating us on departures or the mid-day location etc., We only went to 1 show, which was excellently presented. The overall service from the front desk, waitstaff, bar staff, shore staff, stateroom steward etc., we couldn't fault. We had not difficulty in finding information, assistance and always a welcoming smile. When it was time to leave, we found that the Express Walk Off option was fantastic. We only had one bag each and a carry on, so we chose this option. We were then able to have our belongings with us till 8am the following morning, and walk straight off the ship at our designated time - wow it was so much better than the other options. Hope Princess keeps it for our next cruise. Read Less

We chose the ship because it’s new and classy. Nearly all food in all outlets is included. Highlight was the traditional dining room with fine dining service and scrumptious food. Embarkation and disembarkation were both quick and efficient. Deluxe balcony room was perfect - spacious and could look out at the ocean from our bed. The pool and outdoor hot-tubs were quite the bit of bliss whether in the sun or under the rain. The captain was polite and informative. We stayed on level 14 towards the front of the ship and had very little movement throughout the 12 days - the size of the ship kept it steady. Our room steward was attentive and kept things stocked and clean. The shows were ok but we mainly were on the cruise for the food, swimming and island visits - a clear focus for our luxury family cruise. Mystery Island a definite highlight. That impressed with the ship we are booking again on the Majestic Princess. Read Less

Our cruise on the Majestic Princess's inaugural cruise from Australia to locations with which we were well familiar in the South Pacific, complemented cruises on the Golden Princess in February and another planned for November, 2018. All our expectations on board the Majestic Princess were met and our cruise enjoyment was aided by the allocation to us of Stateroom M105 on Deck 15 which I suspect would be one of the best on the ship, with a very large balcony of some 4m x 5m, directly above the Ship's Bridge and looking forward over its bow. The Stateroom configuration is unique to that location and was very much to our liking and comfort, affording full use of the balcony with total privacy at all times, including during sea days. It was particularly interesting that at sea with the balcony door fully open, the curtains hardly moved, no doubt due to the forward profile of the ship. Our total experiences were positive with "seamless" embarkation, tendering and disembarkation operations providing minimal "down time", with virtually "walk on, walk off" experiences throughout all phases of port visits. As always we make independent plans for shore activity, whether that be snorkeling, shopping or sightseeing at those locations visited. Local currency was obtained ashore without issue as occurred when the need arose in Lautoka, and at other locations we used Australian Dollars or Credit Cards for purchase transactions without difficulty. Our preferred choice of Anytime Dining provided no obstacle to prompt seating in both the ship's Anytime Dining Restaurants during dining hours, and meals served during this cruise were as good if not better when compared to our other cruise experiences. Outstanding would have to be the description afforded to the friendliness of all crew we encountered on the Majestic Princess, at all levels. The Hollywood Conservatory on the Majestic Princess is impressive and a major asset of the vessel, both with respect to its position on Deck 17, and appearance throughout which includes the enclosed pool. Entertainment was substantially as we had seen before on previous cruises but nonetheless still enjoyable and impressive, well worth watching again. It did seem at times the venues struggled to accommodate all passengers seeking seats during some performances, and the choice of location for the Enrichment Lectures necessitated some passengers having to stand - something we had not seen to any degree on other ships. At times, despite the number of passengers aboard the Majestic Princess, we did not find particular difficulty locating seating in Public areas, something which has been a source of frustration in the past on cruises. Overall this cruise experience did not disappoint at any time and if anything, has spoiled us for future cruises given particularly the Stateroom we had and would be lucky to ever get again. wow what can i say about this ship/cruise i had a fabulous time it was my 50th birthday present to me ... the maiden voyage out of Sydney. After watching Majestic Princess come into the spectacular Sydney Harbor i could not wait to get on board. Embarkation process was fabulous we got on with no dramas at all. as soon as we stepped on board the crew were fabulous and that never changed for the whole voyage. i also had the pleasure of doing the ultimate ship tour ~ utterly fabulous and very enlightening about the workings of a cruise ship, it was lovely to have a chat with the captain and find out where he started and his journey to become the captain of this magnificent vessel. I did think that this was going to be a medallion cruise but there were some hic ups and that didn't happen but that was no important. I would love to sail on Majestic Princess again it was such a fantastic experience and one that i would highly recommend to anyone that was thinking about it. Read Less

Having sailed on our first Princess cruise on the Sun Princess last year we were hooked. The temptation to sail on a "new" bigger ship was to easy to accept when recommended by our travel agent. From the moment we embarked in Brisbane (did Brisbane/Sydney/Fiji/Sydney) we knew we had done the right thing.Everything went like clockwork, the crew were excellent and most helpful no matter who you dealt with. What impressed us was their friendliness and ability to engage in courteous conversation whenever you passed them or approached them. Their knowledge whether it be a waiter, steward, deck attendant, cruise direct teamperson was most noticeable-reflects on Princess recruitment and training. We dined in most areas and the food was excellent with a constant change of choice/menu One exception was Harmony restaurant where we found the Chinese presentation was not really geared for the european chinese menu that us NZ people enjoy. It appeared that on this cruise they had difficulty in getting much patronage on most nights. Crown grill on the other hand was great for us steak lovers. Hats off to the Cruse Director Andrew K and his ever smiling staff. Did a great job all of them. The Stage shows in the theatre were first rate, catered for all tastes and were very energetic. We only got off the ship in Suva as we had done other ports on the Sun last year and picked up a 4 hour tour from one of the many agents on the wharf. For $30 it was cheaper than a Princess excursion and probably covered the same sights. Our main recommendation to Princess is perhaps in today's new communication world that a free daily internet allowance should be part and parcel of your fare price. The elite category of passenger have so much internet allowance that they cannot use it all! This great 14 days of cruising for us had to come to an end too soon but at least Princess performed right to the end with disembarkation so well organised we were most impressed.Hardly had to touch our luggage until we got to the airport. We certainly came back new. Read Less

Wanted to go on New Ship. The Majestic Princess was beautiful,Is a fair bit bigger but soon got a handle on the layout. The extra passengers number only came as a problem on the mandatory safety briefing on the first evening when all the passenger have to assemble in there allocated stations on deck 7,once the crowed dispersed all was well.Good entertainment in a variety of location, always something to do till late in the evening. The movie under the stars big screen has to been seen to be believed how good it is ,better than my brand new Sony Brava tv at home,so clear and colorful, best i have ever seen,The water show on the same deck to a theme is spectacular and with the back drop of the big screen is a winner. The allocated band area under the screen is good for shows up on that deck as well .The adults area only called Hollywood up on deck 17 is a beauty,Pool and Bar all under cover with private booths all around the edge with deck chairs and other furniture with a panoramic view ,great place to read a book and chill big time, big winner. The restaurants where up to Princess standard and so where the specialty restaurants as well. The bars are many and although there is no wheelhouse bar,its space is well taken over by the Crown Grill bar area. All round winner, and of cause the staff where top notch and one of the main reasons we like Princess and now this ship sailing in OZ another winner in my book Read Less

What amazing ship and cruise. It was our first time on the Majestic Princess and we both loved it. Enjoyed all the entertainment and the Singer & dancers shows were the best I have seen. You need to be at the Princess Theatre early, as the seats go fast. We waited for one hour, before the show. It was worth the wait. Take a good book. The service was great and the crew were more then happy to help. They always had a smile on their face. We liked all the Ports. we did one shore excursion and it was great and worth the money. If you are new to cruising I would do a tour with the ship. We went on a tour at Noumea from the information centre and they got lost. that made it interesting. We did go to a very nice Village and a lovely church out in the Countryside. The food is great and tasty, you will not go hungry. The International Café has lovely coffee and cakes. The Majestic Princess we would go on a cruise in the future. Read Less

Balcony dinner just an experience, if you have a balcony, you should do. Beautiful food and your own personal waiters, set up on your balcony just beautifully. You start with a cocktail of your choice and appetisers, bread, followed by a further four courses and champagne cost $125...so worth it. Production shows excellent, headliners mostly a hit, a couple of misses. Overall we had a wonderful time. The water shuttles if you’re in a hurry to get off can be a bit of a wait. No issue to us as we just strolled off when ready. The ports are good and you can do your own thing or pick up tours just off the ship on dock. Chose this cruise because of the many ports to visit. The magnificent 'Majestic Princess' as Captain Sagani calls her and he is right. Everywhere you looked there were beautiful paintings, sculptures and decor. Our deluxe balcony stateroom was great, we enjoyed a drink on the balcony on most evenings watching the sunset before heading to one of the many bars for a drink before dinner. Anytime dining worked well for us, we had no problems getting a table in the dining room, the pizzeria or the marketplace buffet area. All meals were good and enjoyed having an option of where to eat each night. There was plenty of room for the 3500 passengers in bars and on deck, really enjoyed the Hollywood pool area. Tender service to shore was ok but a little slow at times but loved all the ports we visited, we enjoyed the two excursions we booked which were well organised. Some bar and wait staff were not as nice and friendly as others but the activities staff were great and very entertaining. As the passengers were much older than expected we learnt to be patient with all the walking frames, walking sticks and wheelchairs, some of the oldies were quite rude unfortunately. Overall we had a fabulous time and will look forward to going on this ship again. Read Less
