My wife and I chose to cruise with Princess Cruise Lines after talking with others about different cruise lines and we are both very pleased with our first experience. The Logistics of the Princess line is unbelievable as to ensuring 3000 guests are taken care of and no major issues necessary to deal with. at the various ports we went on excursions and back to the ship without issues, time, location, guides that were very informative and knowledgeable. All this was received on a very positive note. The entire staff of the Ruby Princess was in my opinion top notch, The customer service, energy, care and concern for their passengers was never ending. The entire cruise was a great success. The only thing I would have liked to have done was tour the ship the entire ship IE the engine room, control deck, etc. but that is me. I would have enjoyed seeing the engines that move such a vessel through the waters to Alaska. I for one will promote the Princess Line to family and friends. Thank You for a Cruise well done. From the transfer at the airport to the transfer back we loved our cruise. Weather was great, beautiful ship, delicious food, great entertainment, excellent service. The beds were excellent. We ate one meal at the crown grill and it was a fine dining experience. A special treat was brought to celebrate our anniversary and we were honored with a song. There was so much good it would be hard to choose another cruise line the next time. I purchased the coffee card and found it to be worth it. There were a lot of activities on board- lots of audience participatory games- loved the trivia. Some the of the games tried to make it funnier by being off color- I don’t like that kind of humor (seemed high schoolish) and there were families on board - games would be just as fun without asking someone to act out a “condom” in Pictionary- that would be my criticism (makes a beautiful ship seem trashy) loved the comedian, the voice, and Iditarod speaker. We went with 2 sons and daughters in law. They wanted to go to Alaska. We went 25 years ago and had a fabulous experience. We were excited to go share it with them and my husbands parents as well. We’ve been on 10 plus cruises-different companies. Enjoyed being with family but overall experience was as lacking. Service was top notch liked the dining room food (rate a 5) the best but overall food (rate a 3) wasn’t what I expected. Bed was the most comfortable I’ve had and our room steward was great. Loved having a balcony! Was awesome especially at glacier bay. Weather played a huge factor in the excursions and even getting in to port in Skagway (we didn’t!) so that was very disappointing to have only 2 of our 5 scheduled excursions work out. It was unfortunate. Glacier Bay was a highlight. Last time we did the inside passage and I liked that better. Saw more wildlife last time. Entertainment was ok. Read Less

Lots of wasted time on ship, Very short time in most of the ports. Ship needs to be more considerate of passengers needs and less on ships schedule. Would be my last consideration for future cruises. First dinner had to wait in a line for a table in a half empty dinning room supposed to accommodate " Anytime Dinning". Orders food before everyone around us and had to complain to head waiter to find out why everyone else that ordered after us was already having desert and we where still waiting for our dinner. Another morning of a day on ship went up to deck 15 to breakfast and ran into only one open section at 10:00am with a line of people waiting to eat. You would figure on a day with no place to be knowing that passengers would probable sleep in the ship would keep more options open. Zero entertainment after 10:00 pm. How about an after hours adult comedy show? Where have you seen a casino that doesn't pay you in cash. Was told they would mail me a check in 3 weeks and if anyone wins less than $30 they donate it to charity???? Read Less

Where do I begin, off the ship was awesome, but coming back on was a huge let down. Bars were way understaffed and I fell bad for those who paid for drink packages. I would have to wait about 20 mins just to get a coke. When you would sit down to dine the wait for a drink would be worse, almost finished when the drink would arrive. Cabin looked old and outdated. The view was great though. Dining- Be prepared to pay extra for dining if you want a good meal. The specialty restaurants were great. Regular dining had no flavor but service was good. Buffets were the same all the time, they just changed the sauce that it was prepared with (LOL0 Hope you like pork! Entertainment- Shows were ok, have seen better on other cruise lines. Magician was horrible my son could do better than him. Comedy was great first nite, his second was basically a repeat of his first (Which was made to sound like it was going to be a special treat). Trying to get a drink was a joke because not enough staff. Crew shows were ok, they did their best. It might sound like all I can do is complain but this cruise ship was such a let down, every-time you got around the other guest after 2 days all you would hear is complaining of how horrible the service was, I am sure I am not the only one giving this cruise a bad review. I work hard for my money and expect great service when we go on vacation. Chose another cruise line and have a great time. If you do chose this line be prepared to spend extra for great food and bring your own alcohol !!!!! Read Less

Chose this cruise line for reviews. This ship is older so some wear and tear expected. Had a mini-suite that had a strong odor of mold, bed was well used and lumpy with visible deformations in the mattress. Club Class dining was very good, staff was excellent. The pizza was tasteless at other cafe, and ice cream substance was horrible. Buffet was mediocre at best. Most activities on board were to encourage you to buy their priceless baubles. It felt like we were living in an infomercial. While I expect some of this, this cruise line is all about the sales. Princess claims that they will make this a once in a lifetime experience. I presumed this meant it would be a good experience, to the contrary, I think they mean that after one cruise you will never use Princess again. The staff and Captain were reluctant to provide information on where disembarkation would occur, where lines should form. It was a big secret, unlike other cruises I have experienced. The staff then complained about where the lines organically formed and meandered. Also, someone had a "medical emergency" on board that required a 7 plus hour detour causing a complete loss of any excursions in Juneau. Not sure what kind of emergency requires such detour, but yet doesn't merit helicopter to fly to medical facility. Seas were not that rough. Captain then repeatedly lied about still making port on time, only releasing that we would not about an hour before we were due in. Notice would have been nice to cancel excursions. When we reached excursion company via phone, they stated they had known the night before. Captain lied. On other cruises such issues, even when weather related, were offset by some renumeration to the passengers such as credit to their account. Not with the money hungry folks at Princess. Listened to Ms. Texas blather on about buying their coupon book (don't do it), or being a VIP shopper...worthless, same coupons taped to display shelves in stores in port. If other wish to cruise with this company, don't buy a thing until the last full day of the cruise. Those priceless baubles are not worth the opening price, and probably not the finishing price either. The "Love Boat" company is now the "Lust Boat", and they are after your money...not the way to see Alaska! Read Less

I've only been on 8 cruises. I'm certainly not an expert, but the cruise on the Ruby Princess was by far my least favorite. We found some of the staff to be warm and welcoming, but others were surprisingly curt and almost condescending. There were 4 of us traveling, we are self-employed, in customer service and upper management positions. We are polite and courteous to all. On the Ruby Princess, we all experienced being cut off mid-sentence when asking for something with “YES MA’AM or YES SIR”. Some staff even turned and walked away while we were still talking. SPA - We paid $400 to use the thermal suite and it was below par. One day everything worked, another the lights and saunas were broken, another day the saunas were way too hot. I mentioned this to a spa employee who didn't seem to care. I also mentioned it to a ship officer (in white uniform) at the thermal suite and he responded rather exasperated "YES, we're going to fix it just for you". Two ladies at the thermal spa at the same time as me left and said they were going to complain and get a refund. SANCTUARY - We always look forward to relaxing in the serenity area of the ship, but the Ruby Princess charges $20 to use it on a regular day and $60 on the day we cruised Glacier Bay? It was a ghost town! ROOM - Our steward was great about cleaning our room and did a great job. However, the bathroom smelled like urine from the time we boarded the ship. I don’t think it was from it being unclean, more likely urine underneath the surface. My sister came into our room and smelled it right when she walked in also. The beds and pillows in our stateroom on were extremely comfortable. I read that Princess is replacing them on all their ships. Great call! INTERNET - We purchased 240 of internet which worked intermittently. I had to go to the internet café three times to get it resolved. I was told and heard them telling other people they were having trouble with the internet and I asked and was issued credit. Unfortunately, this could only be resolved when the internet café was open. It was closed one afternoon and I was told I had to come back in 2 hours. I asked if the front desk or anyone else was available and told no, nobody else on the ship could. I realize it’s not Princess’ fault that we had to turnaround the first day due to a medical emergency on the ship and miss the day in Juno and our excursion. Thank goodness the excursion company gave us a refund. It was very disappointing that we didn’t get off the ship until 7pm and told we had to be back on the ship by 9:30pm. We spent 2 hours in Juno, got in line to get on the ship at 9:10pm. For some reason, the gangway was closed. Princess was very unorganized and we didn’t get on the ship until 10:15pm. This is my second time on an Alaskan cruise, imo Ketchikan is the best port. It was disappointing that we were only there from 7am to 1pm (in port for only 4.5 hours). Getting off the ship at 7:30 in Victoria was really a waste of time as most stores and the vistor’s center were closed. Princess sent out a survey after the cruise, I voiced my concerns and nobody even bothered responding. Read Less

Embarkation and disembarkation were score of 5's! We were able to get on the ship before noon on our embarkation day! Our BEST excursion was in Skagway. We decided to do a Hummer excursion that we booked through Princess. It was AWESOME! We followed Uncle Dean to the Yukon stopping along the way to take pictures and enjoy the scenery. We were able to get a picture at the Welcome to Alaska sign which was REALLY cool since most people didn't have that opportunity. The scenery was incredible and it was nice to be able to stop along the way. DON'T do the excursion in Ketchican with Floatplane and crab feast unless it is in the afternoon. We wound up eating crab first (at 8:30 am) and then got on the floatplane which just took us back to where we started. Best thing we did on the ship was CHEF'S TABLE. As soon as you get on the ship, go to guest services and sign up for this. It is pricey but we enjoyed it more than the specialty restaurants. It's like an excursion on the ship and the best thing we did on the ship by far!! It was frustrating to have to pay extra for specialty coffees, sodas, and lobster and steak in the dining room. We did get steak and lobster one night which was well prepared. We met some great people on the ship and found our servers to be very attentive (dining room, cabin steward) if they were serving us but not so helpful if asking questions to other people onboard. We did not go to the spa even though I was given a $50 gift card because I heard how pushy they were to push products after the service was given. We had not been on a cruise in 15 years and it was our first Princess cruise. I researched the ships thinking this was the best cruise for us, but I would suggest looking for a smaller ship unless you don't mind being around a lot of people all the time. Read Less

Princess was recommended by friends. Our cruise was mostly very enjoyable. We were there primarily for relaxation and to spend time together, thus didn’t take part in most of the ship activities. The courtesy and helpfulness of all staff were outstanding. Food in the dining rooms was excellent. We noticed there were food options such as sugar-free and vegetarian to appeal to most dining preferences. We liked being seated with other diners. It was a great way to meet people. Food at the Horozon buffet was unacceptable. There is no excuse for serving cold food that should be hot, or a warm glass of milk that should be cold. Our only complaint in the dining room was when our waiter was trying to sell us lemon-cello. It was a turnoff. Waiters aren’t supposed to be salespeople. Our cabin was acceptable, but so-so. It looked like it was ready for a redo. The colors in our stateroom and on the ship were boring. We wished there were available music options available in our stateroom and on the ship, the way it was when we were boarding. The boarding experience was outstanding and disembarking was easy. Costs for spa services was excessive. There were too many raffles, promotions, and coupons. The casino reeked of cigarette smoke and the slot machines were confusing. There was smoking on one of the balconies near our stateroom. We didn’t appreciate being put at risk for a fire or having to breathe cigarette smoke. The plumbing was clogged. I didn’t want to use the public washrooms. It happened in our stateroom too, even though we followed the guidelines. An unpleasant and embarrassing experience. There were a few occasions of parents who couldn’t control their children’s disruptive behavior. I was delighted that the dining room bartender knew how t mix a ‘Grasshoppper’. On our last cruise, there was no creme de menth on the ship. We had excellent experiences at the Crab Shack, and at the Crown Grill. The ship had a good fitness center. Our bed was comfortable and we slept soundly. We liked afternoon tea. Overall, we enjoyed a memorable cruise. Read Less

We have sailed with several cruise lines, yet the service, amenities, and overall experience has always been top notch on Princess. I do want to say Ronnie and Joanne at Explorers Lounge, Oliver in the Salty Dog, Dragan in the steakhouse and Lorentz in the photo area all made the trip more memorable. They each should be commended on making us feel like family!! Recommend any Princess cruise to those looking for a family fun time. The excursions in each one of the stops was excellent and Princess picked the right groups to work with. We did fishing on the Rum Runner in Juneau and went whale watching as well. Ask for Captain Chris!! He knows where all the fish are and we pulled a ton in. In Skagway we did the mountain climbing and rappelling. Brady was our guide and this young man made the family feel welcome and showed us we could do anything we put our mind to. In Ketchikan, we did the zipline tour. It was spooky but we became experts with the help of our guides. It was a great time at all locations. Of course the time in Glacier Bay was outstanding. The narrative from the park rangers made the experience even better. Recommend all these excursions to add to a wonderful time with Princess Cruises. Read Less

Every need and wish was met on this cruise. The entertainment and production crew were first rate. Our stateroom steward was friendly, helpful and cleaned the room twice a day. The excursions booked through Princess cruise were better executed than those booked locally and in most cases cheaper. This cruise was taken to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in which Princess went beyond my expectations in making this the best anniversary celebration ever. The food was average but the service was excellent. The variety of on ship activities was great, if you are bored it was your own fault. The Princess crew also respected our privacy and altered room service when needed. Our cruise director was friendly, informative and projected an cheerful and approachable attitude. First cruise ever so we were surprised at the long lines, but will say they seem to have all of that down to a science. Disembarkment was a bit confusing. Excursions were so so. Some real good, others disappointing. Train ride is awesome. Glacier Bay is amazing. Mendehall Glacier was great. Lumberjack show is for kids. Rainforest excursion is a waste of money. They tell you of jewelry stores to visit. We visited Diamond International and Tanzanite International. The people were very pushy and then rude when we didn’t purchase right away. Julie’s Fine Jewelry was amazing, helpful and I would totally recommend going there. All in all we had a great time seeing Alaska, it we won’t sail on Ruby again. Read Less

This should have been a very special cruise where we celebrated my Mother's 60th birthday and I proposed to now fiancee in Alaska. And while I have many great memories from this trip I feel like Princess did their best to ruin it for me. Before getting into the bad let me start with the good. Our cabin was fine, there was always plenty of food, and the staff in the main dining room were extremely friendly. I would say the food in the buffet was average at best while the main dining room was better, We also at at Share by Curtis stone and I would say that was OK but not very memorable. No for the bad, every time I would ask for something or if there was a minor issue the crew would get very combative. This happened a couple of times with our steward and at one point he was even hostile for me asking for an extra towel. This also happened at the main dining room when I ordered an Old Fashioned which had soda water in it. It took much arguing explain that an old fashioned does not have soda water in it for me to get it fixed and the crew still brought out the drink with soda on the side as if I had ordered the drink incorrectly and would need the soda on the side. To make things worse, I only booked one shore excursion through princess as I expected that they would take care of me if any issues would arise. The excursion was a helicopter glacier trek out of Juneau where I was going to propose to my Fiancee. That morning we get off the ship only to find out the tour was cancelled once we got off the ship and are standing in a massive crowd in the rain. I understand the weather is out of their control and don't blame princess for the cancellation, but I was not offered any alternatives and forced to figure things out on my own. I had been planning the engagement for over six months and was now forced to improvise the whole thing with a now angry girlfriend. To add more insult, helicopter flights resumed shortly there after, but we were still not offered any alternatives. All I got from princess was "You'll get your money back". After this point, if you can believe it, things only got worse. The slot machine at the Casino did not properly check my mother out and someone else decided to drain her on board account. When my mom realized this we went to the Casino to try and get her stolen money back (over $400), the crew in the casino were very unwilling to help at first and after threatening to contact the authorities they indicated that they knew the person responsible and would attempt to contact them but would not refund the money to my mother until they discussed the issue with the other person and asked my mother to be present. Why would a casino want to incite such a confrontation on the ship and not just transfer the stolen funds from the other persons account? After indicating that we would not confront the person and that the casino was responsible the casino crew refused to provide any further help. We had to go to the purser's desk and have a lengthy conversation filled with excuses until we were finally to get the issue resolved. Finally, to add insult to injury, the next day while disembarking I was looking for my family in the disembarkation line. I found them and was just coordinating where to meet up before going to the end of the line a crew member very rudely tells us to get to the back of the line (at this point I had only stopped for about 10 seconds and was clearly not in line). When my Aunt proceeded to say that this is the worst customer service she has ever experienced on a ship the crew member responded "I don't work in customer service". Needles to say they were surprised and furious at his response. I we weren't in a hurry to leave the ship we would have contacted his manager then and there. Overall the biggest issue are the constant excuses which we found prevalent at every level. Whenever there was any issue instead of getting it resolved we would receive an excuse. Even when I brought the issues up to princess corporate instead of getting a resolution everything was responded to with an excuse. It was really disappointing as I had been looking forward to this cruise for a very long time and was trying to enjoy every moment of it, but it was difficult with all the issues from princess. Ruby Princess, May 2018, L311 ** For the BIG people ** I am 6'3, 350+ pounds with limited walking ability, and I chose to cruise Alaska. If you’re bigger, here is what you need to know. The cruising industry seems to follow the airline standard of 'size'. Nearly every chair on board (except near pools) had hard armrest and was 18” to 19” wide. If you don’t fit into an airplane seat, you need to make note of options (below). Dining Room - the staff was great at making arrangements. I simply asked for a chair with no arms and they would make it work. I found that after the first day, they just recognized me and made it happen. Either a small table out of the way or getting the right chair to a table of random "happy" folks. I also would note that during peak dining times, the temperature became very warm very fast. Like the A/C was unable to handle the crowds very well. If your warm blooded, avoid peak hours (or bring a small portable fan like me). The lounges have various benches or booths and I could fit somewhat into the lounge chairs, it was just tight and uncomfortable. If you are seeing a 'show' in explorers or any lounge, arrive early and find a bench. Princess Theater. Arrive early and head to Princess theater from level 6, the seats near the stage. On each end of each row is a seat that has a lifting armrest. These go fast. Be prepared to stand to let people in, but I'm not sure I could have watched a show without those seats. Princess theater is hard armrest and airline width. Walking. Expect to walk a max of 1 football field to get from one place to another on ship and 1-3 fields to get on/off the boat. Most Alaska Ports have bus pickup very near the gangway, Victoria was 2-3 ship lengths. Also, expect lines getting on/off especially right after arriving at port. There are also short lines for dining during peak hours, but they move fast. If you can not stand for very long, bring a portable stool. ... and yes, the shower was small. Very small. Bring a shower brush, but if I can do it, anyone can. It’s just … small. ** End of Big People.** First Timers! Shows are not repeated, tomorrow is always something different. Go see the shows. The Magician was good (and funny), the comedian (Steve Caouette) was fantastic (both times we saw him). The cute little game shows they do are also a lot of fun. Do not sit in your room, you can rest after vacation is over. They have a buffet, and you would be well served to never visit it. Not that it was bad, it was quite good the two times we ate breakfast there, but the dining room is awesome! Great service, great food. Eat in the dining room at least 2x per day. Youtube or cruise critic before you cruise. They have dozens of great ideas that were helpful before I set sail. Use ONENOTE or something similar to download deck plans to your phone, it's nice to know where your headed before you get up and wander aimlessly. If you book a balcony, try for Port side. Margorie Glacier is on port first and longest, when they turned around, it was only partially on Starboard. Also, all the Ports are on Port side. Better views of the ports. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we decided to join our friends who already had booked. All in all we had a great time. Alaskas beauty is breathtaking and we thoroughly enjoyed our stops and excursions. I was disappointed that our time in Victoria was short and too late in the evening to see the Buchart Gardens but what a lovely town it seemed to be! Our White Pass/Yukon Route train ride was spectacular and a must on this cruise. Glacier Bay viewing from the decks of the boat was spectacular and to see and hear the "calving" was a bonus for sure. We can't really complain about any of the food- enjoyed the buffets at breakfast and lunch- pizza, burgers, hotdogs, and ice cream were always a delicious option, the Crown served us the most delicious Filet Mignon and Surf and Turf, and my friend and I wish we would have found this jewel at the Vin much sooner- Sushi! free with a glass of wine and we had the premium beverage package so that was a no-brainer- and it was delish!! My husband and I loved the comedian in the theater, and I (Sheila) made many friends the first day by joining in the Trivia at the Explorers lounge- which became our favorite hang out in the seating area right outside of the bar. Yes, that was us constantly paying Skip-Bo! Every worker was so polite and friendly and my only complaint was the high pressure sales at the Lotus. I just wanted to get a massage and basic pedicure. I felt extremely badgered into "upgrading" and the "sell" at the end of services left me feeling disappointed in the whole thing. I really don't need to be made to feel bad about turning down the products when Ive just spent a good chunk of change for the service. Please be more respectful about this to future passengers as not everyone can afford to pay more after they have treated themselves to the service in the first place. Rant over-PS- My massage and pedi were great! We enjoyed the casino and were bummed that it was closed down the last afternoon and evening of the cruise, and we did feel like the service and fun were over starting late afternoon on day before we left- like they were telling us the fun was done. We enjoyed the daily pamphlets of the Events of the day, we ate way more than we should have, but also walked more than normal so that is a wash, right? My Tips- Take really comfy shoes, even to wear with dresses- yes, comfort before style! Take 1/2 your clothes out after you pack Take the stairs as often as you can- if you're able Oh and I must mention that the Embarkment and DisEmbarkment were so smooth and quick- pretty impressive for 3000+ people! The food was good, not excellent but good (buffet) at the restaurants the food is pretty good. The entertainment was great always something to do or see. The only negative thing that I might have to say is that the elevators take a very long time to arrive but there is also the stairs lol, (great leg work out). You do have to be patient when disembarking it doesn’t take long but there are people very impatient and can make it annoying. In general I had a great experienced with this cruise I do recommended it, also if you are doing excursions I recommend using princess cruise excursions because when you disembark there is somebody waiting for you as soon as you are off the ship with signs, if you use somebody else you might have a hard time finding the meeting place ( I had this bad experience but It work out at the end). There where not many children on the ship for those of you that like quiet time. Read Less

The cruise to Alaska was awesome. Too short of time spent in Ketchikan and Victoria. 3-4 hours was not long enough to really enjoy. Seeing glacier bay was just amazing. The sound of the ice calving from the glaciers sounds like loud thunder. Definitely a must if you have never done this cruise. We enjoyed a 6 coarse meal at the SHARE restaurant. It took 2 hours to complete the entire dinner. It was absolutely delicious and well worth the extra $. The entertainment was good especially the comedian by the name of Darryl Joyce. He was hysterical. Learning to get around the ship was a little difficult. So many floors and restaurants, cafes, stores, art gallery, bars, pizza place, burger place, a choice of about 8 different places to eat, theater. I carried around a map the entire time. Not all elevators go to all floors. It was a bit confusing at times. All in all I would go again if I could. Read Less

The food on the cruise was just ok for this trip. We have sailed many times on Princess and both of us thought the food was not up to snuff. They changed the menu and removed such outstanding items such as the parmesan crust which was served with the fettuccini alfredo. They did not serve butter with the rolls, you received some kind of terrible tasting creamed butter. You had to ask for regular butter. Also they limited the rolls that you were initially given. You could ask for more which always took additional time to receive. The pizza was just not cooked enough and when questioned about it, the server made no effort to correct it. The best excursion was the one we did in Skagway. We did the best of Skagway which included a train ride, a bus tour, a tour of the Red Onion Saloon and trip to "LiarsVille" a spot right out of the movie "Deliverance". This tour overall was excellent. Best location for shopping was Ketchikan, Alaska, plenty of shops to see and review. Juneau was just ok, we went on an excursion which visited the glacier and did a tour of a boat to see whales, which as I mentioned was just a few. The entertainment was also not up to Princess standards. The dancers and singers were excellent, but the comedian just was not funny at all. Overall the crew was excellent (except for the Pizza Server) and provided good customer service. But, again, would rate this cruise just average as opposed to the man times of excellence we had in the past with Princess Cruises. Read Less

My husband and I had such a great experience. Definetly enjoyed ourselves and got plenty of rest on this cruise. The bar staff was very friendly and we truly enjoyed our time cruising to Alaska. It was nice that they alwasy rembered our first names and drinks of course. We honestly had a great time. If you stop in Skagway you must take the White scenic pass railway, it was amazing! Not only the history but the views are breathtaking. We were fortunate that it began to snows as we reached higher elevations. Dress warm. It was honestly my favorite. In Juneau we was so many eagles. We could not believe our eyes. Make sure you take some binaculors because you don't want to miss any views. We took the Tram and it was nice. Ketchikan was very cute and make sure you have some rain gear and dont forget to visit the Arctic Bar for some delicious Bloody Mary's. I'll be honest, i had a few and they were the best. Overall my husband and I had a wonderful vacation. Read Less

The Ruby Princess Chose this cruise because we live in Southern California and a Long Beach Departure was convenient. I also wanted to sail on Princess to give them a try. I wasn’t disappointed. The Ship is well appointed and extremely clean. The crew is constantly cleaning. If you see negative reviews from recent sailings, I can only believe that it was from Passengers with unreasonable expectations. There are always a few of those. Cabin: C321. This was a midships cabin on the Caribe deck. I was very pleased with this choice. The balconies on the Caribe deck are larger than other decks. This location is quiet since it is surrounded by other cabins on all sides. The Princess Sleep System beds and pillows are excellent. They were so comfortable. Dining: We had “Anytime Dining”. I would only choose this option in the future. I loved the flexibility. We ate in both the Michaelangelo and DaVinci dining rooms and only had a wait on one night because we went to the dining room right after a show. (Many others did the same.). All other nights we were seated immediately. The Main Dining room food is sufficient. The food is beautifully presented. More often than not we each chose a different entree and asked for a third entree to share mainly so that we could experience a variety. The staff was eager to accommodate. The quality of the food is not gourmet, but more like very good catered wedding food. We also dined at the Crown Grill Steak House. This is what you would expect from an upscale classic Steak House. The service here seemed a step above the Main Dining room. The Horizon Court Buffet is, well, a buffet. Enough said there. Entertainment: Comedian Carlos Oscar was worth seeing. The magician was just ok. The Voice of the Ocean competition was great, if you like karoke. We were lucky enough to have very talented passengers aboard who gave us a great show on the auditions and Finale. The Cruise Director, PJ is a class act and quite good. One of the Assistant Cruise Directors, Anna, really stole the show. She was everywhere with tons of energy hosting so many events. She was involved with the Spanish classes, line Dancing, the Disco Deck Party, Marriage Match Game, Gala and Balloon Drop and so much more. If you get bored on this ship there is something wrong with you. (Or you’re a teenager). Service: For the most part the service was excellent. Our Cabin Steward seemed to always be there when we stepped out of the cabin. We often joked that he just popped out of an air vent or something. The Photography Department had some stand outs too. Ruslana and Andrea went out of there way to ensure we were pleased and had all of our photos. I found myself just wanting to hang out there and chat with them a bit. I really enjoyed chatting with them about there home towns and there travels. They were really awesome. The only negative on service was the International Cafe “Baristas”. They were very unorganized and slow. We couldn’t even use all of the coffee card that we purchased because we didn’t want to keep standing in line for so long. Ports: Went ashore in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas. In Puerto Vallarta, we Got a couples massage at Metamorfosis Day Spa in Playa de Los Muertos. This was awesome and a bargain. $90.00 USD for both of us. Mazatlán was our favorite port. Mainly because we hired a Pulmonia which is an open air taxi. $70.00 USD plus tip for six awesome hours of a private tour. We went everywhere. Our driver “Scooby-Doo” took is to all the tourist areas for photos and shopping but more importantly took us to places that he loved as a local. We found the best taco stands and sampled so much variety. Cabo San Lucas was like Vegas with Beaches. It was expensive and had the most pushy vendors throughout the Marina. The stop was so short. You pull in at 7am. Then tender to the port. It was too early to really go exploring. Then you have to be back on the last tender by 1pm. I’d rather spend more time in the other ports and skip Cabo. If the itinerary stays the same on my next cruise, I’m just staying onboard. Overall: Just loved this cruise. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Great Crew, Great Ship! Read Less

My fiancée is a Platinum member of Princess and he booked the cruise from his past experience - this cruise was excellent and I am sold on Princess cruise lines - - very clean and safe. Their entertainment crew had great performers. The music group was named The Drop and was impressive in their wide range of songs and arrangements thereof. Comedian Oscar Carlos had a packed audience at every performance - he is a clean intelligent comedian and very entertaining - I plan to look for him online and Comedy Central. Ana the Entertainment leader was excellent- she included all passengers and gave a very welcoming feeling. Our cabin steward John was wonderful - very efficient and always helpful- the ship is focused on cleanliness and they are vigilant with hand washing and gel at meals - this was very reassuring. We took a land excursion with guide Angel in Puerto Vallarta - very knowledgeable and informative as well as entertaining. this cruise was an excellent experience and FUN filled time. Read Less

This was my 1st Princess Cruise, NOT impressed! Ship was older but nice for the most part. Cabin was okay but they could have steam cleaned or replaced the very large stain in carpet. Wasn't prepared for the everyday long lines for food/dining. They ran out of food and alcohol, who does that? Once night in dining room, server was cutting my lobster out of shell and knocked it onto the table, all he did was picked it up and placed it on my plate. It took so long one night to receive our dinner our other 4 dining companions were almost finished with their meal. At the buffet, it took forever to get tables wiped down and to receive place settings/drinks. The Staff was not real friendly or apologetic, acted as though we were bothering them. Our cabin steward was the worst, had to ask several times for items we should have had in the first place, also not apologetic, I actually hated to see him coming. Ports were excellent except Ensenada, didn't feel safe there. I remember when passengers tipped for services rendered; stewards use to trip over themselves to help, now since the tip is taken off the top, they give less than a hoot because they know they're getting the STANDARD tip no matter what, such a ripoff! We chose this ship and itinerary based on the scheduling needs of our college age kids, and because it was a shorter trip, the hope that more of our friends would be able to join us. The reason for the trip was to celebrate our upcoming 25th anniversary and vow renewal. We ended up with 14 family and friends joining us. In total, 9 cabins were booked. Two interiors, two balconies, a Club Class mini-suite, a vista suite, two PH suites and an owners suite. While I didn’t see all of the cabins, everyone was very happy with their accommodations. Embarkation was super smooth and fast. We arrived for boarding around 11am and were onboard within 20 mins. It was a sold out trip, over spring break, so I expected a longer process. Due to a recent accident, we had arranged a wheelchair assisted embarkation for my husband. That helped, but honestly, the rest of our group boarded in the same timely fashion. I’ve done a comprehensive review in the main Princess forum, which you can find via my user name, so will limit this review to general experiences. Unlike our first trip on the Ruby a year ago, the service was consistently excellent the whole trip. We had one majorly sub par situation in which 6 of us that had Club Class were told by the HW in CC, at 8:15 pm, that our party was too large to seat, they were closing in 20 minutes (a lie), we should have come at our assigned time (???? Didn’t know Anytime Dining meant I had to come at a set time) and that we had to go to the regular MDR to be seated. This is 1000% unacceptable. While I don’t expect any compensation for this, corporate will be hearing from me. I immediately went to the suite line at passenger services and complained. I was told someone would contact me. No one ever did. I chose not to waste valuable cruise time following up. The ship is in beautiful shape — I did not see anything of note in terms of unusual wear and tear. We spent a lovely morning in the Sanctuary (try it at least once!!) on this itinerary I suggest arrival morning in Cabo, port side window lounges. Less crowded and stunning views. We did have a lot of trouble, the entire cruise, getting anyone to answer the room service line. To the point of ridiculousness. Didn’t matter day or time, it just rang and rang. Disembarkation was a breeze — just insanely quick and easy. Only problem with it was it meant our cruise was over :-/ Read Less

We had fantastic weather and just enjoyed our get away. We didn't even get off the ship. With everyone having gone ashore, we had the pool almost to ourselves. We ate in the dining room for breakfast and dinner every night. (Any time dining) and enjoyed the service and food. Although some times we asked for a table for 2, the tables were pushed so close together that you had no choice but to talk with your neighbours. This was not a problem for us as we usually like to share a table and meet new friends. We usually take a cabin mid ship because of motion, but we opted to try the top level towards the front this time. We lucked out with terrific weather and it was smooth sailing the entire trip. It was nice to be so close to the bar, food, Movies Under the Stars and not have to travel far to get there. This particular cruise was during Spring Break and yes, there were several children on board. Mostly they were enjoying the pools and we never encountered any issues with any of them. Read Less

3rd cruise on Princess and we took the Ruby to Alaska a year ago. Cabin steward Bren Del Prado was outstanding and dinner with our waiter Luis Loyola and Jay Lau was so entertaining. Luis should have his own comedy show on Princess cruises! We were on the R deck in a balcony cabin right by the bridge. Embarkation and debarking were much easier in LA than in Seattle. We love Princess cruises. I wish I could give a 5+ star rating for dining. Buffets were excellent, formal dining was super and on the last formal night you could have as many lobster tails as you wanted. Room Service was ok but they did have to redo one order (who in the world puts mayonnaise on a hot dog??) to get a plain hot dog. I didn't try the lasagna but I sure will next time. They did have a great cookie delivery with room service, though. Read Less
