Cabin: Spa Balcony

We booked last minute, spa balcony cabin. The limited smoking areas and non-smoking balcony advertised for the spa level cabin sold us on this cruise along with the adult only area. Many pros but also some cons.

Pros - all staterooms nonsmoking no chance of getting a stinky cabin. Nice stateroom with King Size bed very comfortable. Great service, nice therapies you can use for no cost in the spa such as the thermal suite and the thalassotherapy pool. We were pleased with the food on the ship. Enjoyed one dinner at the Steakhouse and most of the others in the buffet. We were assigned late seating for dinner and did not go to the dining room until the last night. We don't eat at 9pm (8:15pm seating you are eating at 9), requested to be changed to early but it was denied. Realized the same entrees are available on the buffet each night so we enjoyed the same food basically just at a time that worked for us. Very pleased with the breakfast in the Scarlett dining room in the morning. Food was better than the buffet breakfast. Deli and Grill good for a quick bite and available most of the time. Pizza was ok. We did not order room service. Good Karaoke times, show we saw Dancin in the Streets was good.

Cons - no chairs in the adults only section on most sea days at 9am they were all covered with towels. Staff did not do well enforcing the 30 minute limit on leaving your towel to reserve a lounge chair. Atrium area always reeked of cig smoke no matter what level you were on. Spa level rooms are floors 11 and 12. Although no smoking allowed on the balcony for these rooms there is no such restriction on the rooms below. Only 2 times during the entire 7 day cruise could we use our balcony without a constant barrage of smoke from balconies below. The best times to enjoy the balcony, arriving and departing various ports, could only be enjoyed from the inside of our cabin as there were many smokers below who ruined us being able to sit on our balcony and enjoy the scenery. It was overwhelming smell and was a definite con for us. Casino advertised limited smoking but that was a joke. The sports bar had nonsmoking signs everywhere but 1/2 the tables in the sports bar had people smoking everytime we walked through, what a joke to even have the nonsmoking signs. Could not spend time in the casino as I don't want to have to shower and wash my hair before bed so the stinky place was avoided although we had hoped to play some Hold em. Even in Vegas the poker roooms are smoke free but not on the ship, no smoking at the table but the slots next to it people smoke. Overall we enjoyed the ports of call. Loved St Maarten beaches were beautiful and Marigot a need little village. Philipsburg where we docked had great shopping with a beautiful beach. Went to St John for snorkeling at Trunk Bay during the time in St Thomas. Short trip but a picture perfect spot with good snorkeling.
