MSC Fantasia Review

MSC Fantasia - a 2 * cruise

Review for the Western Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Fantasia

We've been cruising a lot - 8 cruises - since our weeding 6 years ago, all in Caribbean or Transatlantic, in this companies: Princess, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. We loved all of them, giving 6 * to all those experience. This time we cruised in MSC and in the Mediterranean for the first time, because we took our two girls, 2 and half and 4 year old. We depart in the 6 of April 11 from Barcelona in a huge and beautiful boat - MSC Fantasia - but from the first day till the last was a big sum of bad service, bad food and even worse attitude from desk room services. We walk on board at 15.00 h and after visiting our cabin we went to the buffet trying to give some bread and milk to our two small girls. It was closed since 15:00 and wouldn't open till next morning. Then, we asked where could we get some bread and milk and they told us that only room service could provide that. I called at 16:45 to the room service, and 45 minutes later nothing happen. I called again and just then they told me that they couldn't get bread, ham, butter and milk, only other kind of food. So, in this cruise the buffet is only available for breakfast between 7-10, lunch from 12-15 and, just in sea days, 16-16:45 for tea (I thought tea time was 17:00...). No dinner or midnight buffet, just small candies and sandwiches in the casino at 24:00. The quality of the buffets was rather bad, and most of all, was ALWAYS the same stuff! We're fed up of this food quite quickly. In the dinning room, the menu we're really poor when compared with other companies. If you like chicken, turkey, poor fish, baby shrimp and lot of tomato you would enjoy MSC Fantasia menus. If you like good stakes, good fish and good seafood (no lobster in 13 days) you shouldn't go by MSC. The staff were rude, specially in the reception and the "activities" team, that most of the times were with a "just making a favor to us" attitude...About passengers, mostly Italians, they could have a better behaviour, specially in the buffet and around the swimming pool. In the elevators, they don't respect any order, they just arrive and run for it, or close it quickly so you couldn't get in, even with small child's!!!The sport center it rather small for this enormous ship and comparing with others. They announce a Tennis court that actually have the size of a volleyball field if so.After 10 days on boat we received a note telling that we had to change to another cabin. Like we told to the travel agency logitravel.com, that had informed us about this change just after the payment, we weren't interested on changing cabin, even because we where with 2 small children. The people in reception told us that the problem were between us and the travel agency, and they didn't tried AT ALL any other solution, being really rude in this situation.Well, being used to real unforgettable cruises, this cruise was a nightmare and we were happy to arrive home...!An important note to some MSC reviewers, we aren't American people that some reviews say are very exigent.
