We got this cruise for a great price and actually were able to upgrade to a larger oceanview room and still save money. Love traveling out of Baltimore as it is only a 2 hour drive for me and the port is so easy to get on and off the ship. Did take advantage of a park and cruise deal at a local hotel which was just as much as the parking at the pier. This also gave me the opportunity to take advantage of $1.00 admission weekend at muesums and the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
Arrived at the pier fairly early and did not have to wait long before the boarding process began. Luckily we were one of the first on and took advantage of lunch in the Windjammer. Weather was really cold and windy so there was no eating on the outside decks. Read the reviews and understand that since the ship was expanded the dining venues were not. This proved to be a little challenging during primary eating times, with the exception of dinner. Food was normal for RC, and it seemed like the selection of different types of food options had diminished since my last cruise with them last year. Needless to say there was always something on the menu that looked and tasted good.
I sailed with 4 first time cruisers so after making room for other guest in the Windjammer we decided to tour the ship. This was my first time on Enchantment, but I have sailed on its sister ship, Granduer several times when it was stationed in Baltimore. I was excited to see Boleros (spelling ?) which was added with the expansion. This was a smoking lounge as well, was to cold outside to dive into the nasty habit. The rest of the ship seemed to mirror the Granduer with the exception of the added pool and sky walkway on the pool deck. Chops Grill was also added and seemed to be a good use of space as compared to the Singing in the Rain lounge on Granduer. The casino seemed the exact same, but I did not do any gambling. the Theater and Dinning room were not expanded and when shows and dinner where scheduled be prepared for larger crowds, if you arrive late expect to stand as there will be no seating left. The dinning room had space but it seemed like the table were on top of each other, there was little room for the waiters to manuever between table without pushing into someone. I was surprised to hear that the Spa was expanded upon during the expansion, yet there was no steam room or sauna in the locker rooms. Seemed like a lot of wasted space in the locker room that really could have used these amenities.
