Having cruised with a different cruise line for most of my cruises I was excited to take my first Holland America cruise. I was looking for a quick inexpensive cruise on line and to my great fortune I found Holland America was having a sale on the Sept 5, 2010 cruise to Bermuda on their Veendam ship. The itinerary was great, one day at sea then in port at St. George for a day them moving over to Hamilton for the remainder with one day at sea coming back. The other Bermuda cruises I have been on have always had two days going to Bermuda and the docked at Kings Warf and two day at sea coming home. I enjoyed this trip with Holland America because it docked right at the heart of Bermuda on Front Street in Hamilton. While the other cruise lines are building bigger and bigger ships Holland America is making a point to keep their ships small enough to get into the ports like Hamilton where other ships are too big to fit. It was also great to spend more time in Bermuda, while the other cruise lines were out at see we The Veendam was in port and it's passengers were out enjoying Bermuda. The ship itself was very well kept up and the crew was friendly and professional at all times. The food on this ship was best I have ever had on a cruise, and I have had some great food on cruises, the fruit was always fresh and delicious and they even kept the the fruit bowl in my stateroom filled daily. All in all I would not hesitate to go on Holland America again especially to Bermuda. From what I was told the Holland American line will be having cruises to Bermuda for another three years. I would recommend this cruise to any first time cruisers who want to get a good taste of cruising, Bermuda is a great port with friendly people who really appreciate you visiting there island home.

Cabin Review

Large Ocean-View Stateroom

Cabin C

Cabin 569 on the Main Deck 5 was an inside stateroom in the K category. It was close to the forward elevators and was convenient to getting the the Showroom and the Crows Nest. My mother how has difficulty walking enjoyed going to the Crows Nest and looking out at the scenery. The main gangway was located on deck 5 and since we took the Expedited Disembarkation we were able to relax in our cabin and walk right off of the ship and to my car without hassle. I would take this cabin again.
