I have wanted to try Viking for several years. When presented with the opportunity in late December 2022, to take a 16 day cruise from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Toronto, Canada with free airfare and the silver drink package, I jumped on it. I had heard from friends and the person that cut my hair that Viking was a very good cruise company. But I found out that they much better than good - they are outstanding. I have never been as well fed and taken care of on a cruise or any vacation in my life. The whole crew treats everyone like they are VIPs. When the Fort Lauderdale airport was closed due to flooding on the day the cruise was scheduled to start, they rebooked us (my wife and I) on new flights to Miami within hours, had a shuttle take us to the port at Fort Lauderdale to board the ship which held up the embarkation by 4 hours. The World Cafe was still open to feed all of the late arrivals. The Octantis is a unique ship that has full length windows enclosing the balcony. The upper window opens via an electric motor and also has a ceiling to floor electric blackout curtain. The floor in the bath is heated. Since many excursions occur on the water via kayaks and Kodiak rafts, there is a special closet that can dry damp clothes and shoes. Other room features include a Nespresso machine with ceramic cups and saucers, a refrigerated mini bar with complimentary sodas, candy, and nuts, and more electrical outlets than any other cruise line. They also have WIFI speeds that match what I have at home (~100 Mbs download). The public rooms feel like you are traveling in the largest private yacht in the world. They have large windows and comfortable leather sofas and chairs. There are a large variety of books in the Library and the Living Room that you can borrow,
