The cruise actually started in Lewiston, Idaho but Cruise Critic does not have that in the required drop down menu. It was the west bound passage ending in Portland, Oregon (actually Hayden Island, Oregon. (The east bound passage has the same itinerary only in reverse). It traversed eight locks on the way to the mouth of the Columbia River following the route of Lewis and Clark. It was very educational especially if you have never been in that part of the country which include the deepest canyon in North America. The highlight of the cruise is the separately booked jet boat ride on the Snake River. It is in conjunction with the cruise line which includes one day at the Holiday In in Clarkston, WA just across the river. It was our first small ship cruise. We have taken about 11 ocean cruses on Princess and Norwegian. It turned out to be the most expensive cruise we have ever taken. One very convenient part was that the ship left right from the hotel. We expected a lot more in the food category. Some entrees were inedible. The staff was disorganized in that the waiter who took the order was not the same person that delivered it and said:did you order this. All alcoholic beverages were included with meals and at any time you wanted a drink. But the 'all included' cruise aspect did not include several excursions and we were billed two weeks after disembarkation.

Cabin Review

The cabin was more spacious than the balcony one on our big ships. The balcony was about the size as the ocean going ones. There was ample drawer space. The hanging closet space was sufficient but the suitcases did not fit under the king size bed. A night light is provided but useless if you close the bathroom door. We always bring our own nightlight The bathroom was sufficient in size with a walk-in shower.A hairdryer is provided. The downside was the noise of the engines. At times at increased speeds it was difficult to sleep.
